13:30 – Lastroboy
LASTROBOY opened his account over hurdles in style at Ffos Las in November and, while the bare form is nothing special, he took a big step forward when finishing runner-up to a smart sort in the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown last time. He still looked inexperienced in the closing stages that day, but this step up in trip should help him, and he is impossible to oppose given he has the potential to improve further still. Tzarmix is the obvious forecast option.
14:05 – Skinflint
SKINFLINT is now an 11-year-old, but he showed improved form to belatedly open his account under Rules at this course last month, jumping fluently with the cheekpieces back on and finding plenty in the closing stages to stretch 10 lengths clear. He was followed home by three outsiders, which tempers enthusiasm about the form, but Skinflint won in style, and is worth backing to follow up from a 10lb higher mark. Dentley de Mee can fill the runner-up spot again, with Airtothethrone best of the others.

14:40 – Shomen Uchi
SHOMEN UCHI was a near useful performer in bumpers and he shaped with plenty of promise on his hurdling debut on his return from nine months off at Hereford in December. He almost pulled it out of the fire despite conceding race fitness and experience to the winner, doing all of his best work at the finish, suggesting he’ll relish this step up to three miles. This doesn’t look the strongest race of its type and he arrives with the most potential. Kyntara looks the type who may benefit from headgear so is next best ahead of Great Name That.
15:15 – Grivetana
GRIVETANA won two of her first three starts over hurdles and she ran a couple of good races when runner-up at Newbury on her return this season. She also shaped as though back in form when hitting the frame in the Scottish Champion Hurdle at Musselburgh last time, paying the price for getting involved with the headstrong leader from too far out. Grivetana is now back against her own sex and in a less-competitive event, so is well worth backing to resume winning ways having been dropped 1lb in the weights for a bang in-form yard. Felicie du Maquis has won both of her starts under Rules so far and is feared most.
15:50 – Sail Away
SAIL AWAY hasn’t been with this yard long and hasn’t been seen since opening his account over fences at Warwick in May last year. He took advantage of a good opportunity on that occasion, the form nothing special, but there was still plenty to like about the way he went about things, and he also has a good record when fresh. He will unlikely be wanting for fitness coming from this yard and he looks a big player on his return from just 1lb higher. In Excelsis Deo fluffed his lines at Warwick last time but had looked a good prospect prior to that so is feared most.
16:25 – Bells of Stamford
BELLS OF STAMFORD is less exposed than most of his rivals here and has made a positive start over fences, so he may be the way to go following a 7 lb rise for a career-best win last time. Discko des Plages isn’t one to trust implicitly but is on a very workable mark if able to complete this time, whilst Kingcormac had plenty in hand when winning at Hereford on his penultimate start and should also be in the mix.
17:00 – King William Rufus
Plenty of these are making their Rules debut, so the market will no doubt prove informative, but KING WILLIAM RUFUS shaped with plenty of promise when runner-up in a Plumpton bumper three months ago and with that form proving strong, Chris Gordon’s charge is fancied to go one place better. Endless Supply and The Jukebox Man look the pick of the newcomers.
