ROCK CHANT is in the form of his life, looking for the three timer and although he didn’t win by a wide margin just four days ago at Wolverhampton, he was going through the line with his ears pricked and looks very tough to beat going for the hat-trick on a track that should suit as well.
SEATTLE KING has plummeted down the handicap and it is only recently he has looked like taking advantage of that ease in the weights, his three previous tries around this venue where over the wrong distances and also off marks of 84, 72 and 67, he has to go well for the leading winter jockey and an overdue, second success is in the offing.
TROPEZ POWER has a 50% strike rate since being switched across to the new stable and steps onto this track for the first time, but judged on the way he has put up strong finishes over this distance at Southwell it’s going to suit him down to the ground climbing up this stiffer mile. He will be held up and played late with a bit of pace in here to run at.
It was March 2022 when we saw NORDIC GLORY last in the winners enclosure, and the signs are suggesting a return to the circle is not too far away, there is a slight possibility that he could fly under the radar at double digit odds, and if that’s the case, he looks in each-way steal. He is going to get a pace to run at and can be produced fast and late by the excellent William Carson.
Over a furlong shorter, ENGELBERT hit a flat spot and was looking likely to finish well down the field, but he rallied very strongly well inside the final furlong to hit the line, strongly under hands and heels, stepping into a handicap off a mark of 72 and going up in distance is the right recipe for his first success.
JOHNNY BOOM been on a steady climb up through the ratings for this handler, and it has been a case of burnt fingers the last two times he has been at this venue. We will forgive him his last below-par effort, even though he wasn’t beaten too far as was caught wide early and was far too keen to do himself justice, the handicapper was suitably impressed as well and nudged him up one for that effort. Needs a career-best but it’s very possible.
