Lossiemouth to Win the Triumph Hurdle
TV: Racing TV/ ITV/ Virgin Media
There’s nothing like an unlucky loser is there?
Now, people tend to overbet them based on what could have happened, but in this instance, the market for this race has been blown open because of people looking everywhere else outside the obvious winner.
Lossiemouth was class in her juvenile hurdle at Fairyhouse before improving again to beat Gala Marceau very easily in Leopardstown.
They’re then suggesting she was beaten on merit despite being hampered twice at the Dublin Racing Festival. And then the look to Blood Destiny who has beaten absolutely nothing, as shown by Sir Allen failing to make an impression in the Fred Winter.
It’s total nonsense. She wins.

Shamrock Rovers to Beat St. Pat’s
TV: LOITV
Despite their rocky start to the season, Rovers are still my idea of title contenders while St. Pat’s have been the worst side in the country against expectation.
It’s always my hope that people overreact to these instances and this appears to be a prime example of same.
Now that they have their full compliment of defenders back, the Hoops can begin to gain consistency and there’s no opportunity quite like taking on a side totally devoid of confidence.

Newcastle to Beat Nottingham Forest
TV: Sky Sports Premier League
My favourite thing about the Newcastle project – and I absolutely take on board that we shouldn’t really like anything about the Newcastle project – is that despite the association with money of wielding attacking, free-flowing football, the Magpies have actually become an efficient, conservative unit that churn out results.
It makes them kind of bomb-proof in games they should win. Now, they were due a wobble quite clearly – and it came in a run of eight games where their only win was against Fulham.
But they’ve had two decent performances against Man City and Liverpool; then coming away from that proving unscathed by defeat by turning over Wolves.
The manner of the late winner proves to me that they’re learning to adapt. This money is safe.
Lyon to Beat Nantes
TV: BT Sport 5
No, this isn’t me losing money because of name value. And no, it’s also not me picking random French fixtures because they’re on.
Nor is it me backing Lyon to be better than they actually are. It’s simply down to Nantes being a woeful proposition when away from home this year.
Their two road wins are second-lowest in the division behind only Angers. Their two wins away from home came against Montpellier and Ajaccio – both of those games seeing the opposition end with fewer than ten men.
So I suppose in theory, this leg should read ‘Nantes to Lose to Lyon’.
