Here we go again...

Cheltenham Festival 2023

Cheltenham Lucky 15 Tips

14:50 Cheltenham – Fil Dor
15:30 Cheltenham – Editeur Du Gite
16:10 Cheltenham – Galvin
16:50 Cheltenham – Global Citizen

Each and every day of the racing year we bring you a bumper NAPs table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.

Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.

So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…

Cheltenham Festival 2023

14:50 Cheltenham – Fil Dor (Andrew Bladen)

FIL DOR was runner-up to Vauban in three Grade 1s as juvenile, including the Triumph here. Kept to about 2m this winter, including for wins in a beginners’ chase and last month in a Grade 3 when back over hurdles. Style of racing and some stamina in the family help to make this new trip an interesting move.

15:30 Cheltenham – Editeur Du Gite (Whistler)

EDITEUR DU GITE is a progressive front-running chaser. Took advantage of Edwardstone’s fifth-fence departure in Grade 2 at Kempton over Christmas, then rallied gamely to beat that rival by a head in the rescheduled Clarence House here last time. Those two wins came on soft but he’s versatile ground-wise. Form figures at Cheltenham now read 11431. Connections won this contest with Sire De Grugy, who had a similar preparation, in 2014. Strong contender.

16:10 Cheltenham – Galvin (The Punt)

GALVIN won the NH Chase at the Festival in 2021 (3m6f, good to soft) and the Grade 1 Savills Chase at Leopardstown (3m, yielding) last term. Also effective on soft going. Reappeared with Grade 3 win at Punchestown in October and, although he’s been below par the last twice, this class act is entitled to considerable respect on his cross-country debut. Trainer, who also saddles last year’s winner Delta Work and whose Cullentra House yard has won five of the last six runnings, has stated he “schooled brilliantly over the banks”.

16:50 Cheltenham – Global Citizen (Expert Eye)

GLOBAL CITIZEN is a prominent racer who saw off Andy Dufresne to win this 12 months ago (heavy) off 3lb lower mark. Nowhere near that form in three starts since but last month’s run in the Kingwell should have sharpened him up and this has presumably been the plan all along. No surprise if he is back to his best.
