BREGUET BOY is on a losing run of 23 that stretches back to September 2020 but he shaped well on his first start since rejoining Keith Dalgleish when runner-up in a handicap over course and distance on Thursday, looking a shade unlucky not to win as he was denied a run two furlongs out when making headway. Breguet Boy would meet some of these on better terms were this classified stakes a handicap, but it’s worth remembering that he’s been rated much higher in the past.
17:40 – Muzaffar
MUZAFFAR improved on his novice efforts when finishing runner-up on his handicap debut over a mile and a quarter here last month, really getting the hang of things late on and just going down by a neck. He then confirmed that promise and more when getting off the mark in an 11-furlong novice at Southwell a week later, proving well suited by a good test over the longer trip. Muzaffar didn’t seem to travel that well to halfway but he made steady headway from that point and stayed on well to lead entering the final furlong, ultimately passing the post two and three-quarter lengths clear and well on top. He should appreciate this slightly longer trip and looks fairly treated as he steps back into handicap company.
18:15 – Direct Hit
DIRECT HIT produced his best effort yet when runner-up over course and distance last month in a race that is likely to prove reasonable form for the grade (the front three pulled clear), and he remains fairly treated after edging up only 1 lb in the weights. It was encouraging that he settled better than he had on his previous start and he ought to give another good account.
18:45 – Elim
ELIM made a promising start to her career when runner-up in a seven-furlong fillies’ novice here on debut in October, throwing down a strong challenge to the odds-on winner and coming a little way clear of the remainder. The form of that race has been given a boost by the winner following up at Kempton and it could be worth siding with Elim, who found plenty for pressure on debut and should be suited by this furlong longer trip.

19:15 – Na Scoitear
NA SCOITEAR showed improved form when runner-up in a six-furlong handicap here in January, sticking to her task well without ever getting to the winner who has scored again since. Na Scoitear shaped as if still in good form when fourth in a seven-furlong handicap at Wolverhampton last month, leaving the impression that she’s worth persevering with at the trip, and she ought to go well off the same mark.
19:45 – Final Account
FINAL ACCOUNT produced a creditable effort when runner-up off this mark at Wolverhampton last week, running on late having been held up. That represented a swift return to form following a slightly disappointing effort over this course and distance on his penultimate start, but it’s worth noting he had won over course and distance prior to that, so is proven under these conditions.
20:15 – Westmorian
WESTMORIAN failed to give his running when beating just one home at Southwell last time, finding nothing off the bridle, but he had won his two previous starts and is better judged on those efforts. He got off the mark with something to spare in a five-furlong maiden at Southwell in December and then showed better form when landing a handicap over this course and distance, always going the best. He has been given a bit of time since disappointing in his hat-trick bid at Southwell and can get back on track here.
