Shorties haven’t always been kind to us but that being said in this small runner field Cariad, a progressive three-year-old, could take some stopping. She was impressive last time out over course and distance and a 3lb rise looks very lenient. She is progressing and she is now 3-5 in handicap company. She receives weight from older rivals and is just the most likely winner.

Tipman Selection – West To The Bridge
1.5 points each-way

West To The Bridge for the Skelton’s was the winner of this race last year off 1lb higher. He looked to be coming back to form with his latest second at Uttoexter in a Class 2 event. They tried to hold him up in previous runs but he was sent more prominent last time out and it got him back in some form. He has a very good chance at the weights and should be bang there.

Tipman Selection – Micks Spirit
1.5 points each-way

With the three places on offer Micks Spirit stands out like a sore thumb. He’s a four-time course and distance winner who’s been blessed with the plumb draw in stall one. He has some top speed figures and to top that off Oisin Murphy has been booked for the ride. It’s difficult to see him being far off in what will be a truly run sprint.

Tipman Selection – Gwennie May Boy
1.5 points each-way

Gwennie May Boy looks to represent some decent value and I’m prepared to forgive the effort last time out which was on the back of a three month break and he got a bit worked up that day. He should strip fitter here and if able to settle, he can run a much truer race. He won his novice in October and the horse he beat by 18l won a handicap off a mark of 106 last month. His handicap mark of 111 suggests he could be very well in at the weights if able to progress and put that last run behind him.
