13:50 Kempton – Scriptwriter

Trainer Milton Harris has not hidden how much he rates this horse. He won very nicely at Cheltenham on decent ground before and was just beaten by Comfort Zone last time. He does not look slow and this test looks a really good fit for him. Nicky Henderson’s Pawapuri is a very nice filly who jumps very well at home, but this is a tough gig on her first try over hurdles but she could run a big race.

14:25 Kempton – Solo

Paul Nicholls’ runner is a very good jumper and he enjoyed racing over this 2m 4f last time, when second, trying to give weight away to Balco Coastal – who was placed in a Grade One contest next time.

He can gain compensation now.

15:00 Kempton – Cap Du Nord

Cap Du Nord  won this contest last year and connections have brought in crack 5lb claimer Cian Quirke from Ireland. That means Cap Du Nord is only 3lb higher than when winning easily at Ascot last week.

Saint Calvados has form at Grade One level. There looks to be a lot of pace in this contest and he can be sit just behind the leaders and make his move at the end. The race should set up perfectly for him to run well.

15:25 Newcastle – Kitty’s Light

Christian Williams has only had nine winners this season, but more importantly, he won a big race at Ascot last weekend with Cap Du Nord who runs at Kempton on Saturday. Williams’ stable jockey Jack Tudor is going to Newcastle to ride Kitty’s Light.

This son of Nathanial is not overly big and soft ground does not play to this his strengths. He was placed at Sandown last April behind Gold Cup hopeful Hewick off a mark of 145 and runs now  off a mark of 132. This looks like a well thought-out plan and the ground being dry is very much in his favour.

The top-weight Eva’s Oscar is another that should run well. He is a good jumper was a good winner over 3m 2f at Cheltenham earlier this season. He should give you a good run for your money over this marathon trip of 4m 1f in the Eider Chase.

15:40 Kempton – Hansard

The five-year-old is unbeaten since joining Gary Moore after winning a bumper at Ballinrobe last April. He won very nicely carrying a penalty at Plumpton and has form on a sound surface so this contest looks a good fit for him. Rubaud has very good form but had a hard race in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury last time. If he gets loose on the front end he could be dangerous and difficult to peg back in the first-time hood.
