That gives him slightly more of a chance in the early stages to find a rhythm, rather than forcing the issue. Forge Valley Lad has not been hit particularly hard by the handicapper and he can gain another victory at this venue.

This looks the ideal starting point for this seven-year-old LORD NORTH and he should get the guaranteed pace to run at with stablemate Harrovian also in the line-up. He was beaten in this race last year but can flash home fast and late to make a winning start to this season.

There’s always been a question mark as to whether he will stay a truly run mile? However, LORD OF THE LODGE’s performance last time when chasing a ridiculous early gallop suggested he’s very capable over this course and distance. There will be plenty of interest in Security Code down towards the bottom of the handicap as he brings in a very attractive profile.
The proven form is with the selection though and we have the added bonus of the excellent 7lb claimer Sam Feilden freeing him from carrying top weight.

16:25 – Bashful Boy

David Pipe’s BASHFUL BOY made a fantastic return to action on the Flat at this track over 1m 4f just 29 days ago. That suggests Bashful Boy is primed for a massive effort now stepping up in distance to 2m. A rating of 74 looks a very attractive mark to start on and his trainer has found a perfect opportunity for him to get his head in front.
