Flat winner for the Gosdens; and improved from Irish/hurdling debut at Leopardstown when a staying-on second behind Metamorpheus at Punchestown; plenty to prove now since he could manage only sixth behind Byker here 13 days ago but ALMUHIT has plenty in the tank and can run well here.

14:45 – Uttoxeter – Bangers And Cash (Scottish Sun)

Won easily at Exeter and defied a 9lb rise in Market Rasen’s Lincolnshire National (3m3f, again good to soft), readily going clear turning in but blundering at the last and doing well to prevail in the end; BANGER AND CASH definitely better than the bare result and a 7lb rise should be manageable.

15:35 – Newbury – No Ordinary Joe (Liverpool Echo)

Justified favouritism with a game success in Kempton handicap (2m, soft; back from 12-month absence) at Christmas; NO ORDINARY JOE is now 3-6 over hurdles and looks open to further improvement for top connections; ran well on good ground in the 2021 Greatwood; well worth a nibble here.

19:00 – Wolverhampton – Tone The Barone (The Racing Post)

5f specialist who hasn’t been at his very best this winter, but there were slightly more positive signs for TONE THE BONE on a rare outing over 6f last time and he’s well treated if staging a revival; second to Lord Riddiford in this race in 2021, might surprise a few here.
