ITV Saturday gets under way here with a handicap chase over 2m4f. Stolen Silver is obvious and he might just win this as he’s the in-form horse but he’s right at the hilt of his handicap mark. I’ll chance GALAHAD QUEST to pick him top for David Noonan and Jane Williams. In contrast to the likely favourite my hope is down the weights off 128 having been a 135 horse in his time. His second at Wincanton last time was not a bad effort and he gets a lovely racing weight here.
Newbury 13:50 – Sirobbie (each-way)
ITV are also at Newbury Saturday starting with this handicap hurdle over 3m. A horrible race to sort out. For that reason I’m having a couple of quid each way on the big-priced SIROBBIE. My hope is very in and out and was pulled up when last seen. However, off this mark of 120 he’s capable when in the mood and he stays well. Many of these are iffy so I’ll take a chance Sirobbie has a going day like when he was third and fifth in big fields at Haydock and Uttoxeter in 2022.
Warwick 14:05 – Love Envoi
This is a Listed Mares’ Hurdle over 2m5f. Impossible to oppose Cheltenham Mares’ Hurdle hope LOVE ENVOI who has looked better than ever this term. With a rating of 147 she’s much better than these and she should score for Jonny Burke and Harry Fry. She’s another like Honeysuckle who should be in the Champion Hurdle next month.
Newbury 14:25 – Does He Know
The Grade 2 Denman Chase over nearly 3m. A chance for a shock here and DOES HE KNOW could go from the front for Kim Bailey and David Bass. The last-time-out Cheltenham winner came from off the gallop for that success but he can lead if they want to and he has done so before. There is no obvious pace in here and the one thing Does he Know does is stay.

Warwick 14:40 – Jonbon
The Grade 2 Kingmaker Novices’ chase over 2m. This won’t take long! Barring an accident this should be easy for Arkle favourite JONBON who is much more talented than his rivals here for Aidan Coleman and Nicky Henderson. My hope has course form and really impressed at Sandown last time in Grade 1 company. The Douvan relation is very exciting.
Newbury 15:00 – Greaneteen
Another Grade 2 here in the Game Spirit Chase over an extended 2m. GREANETEEN has been a massive over-achiever in his career thanks to the brilliant training and placing of Paul Nicholls. That said he should win this easily rated 170 under Harry Cobden. Not disgraced although well beaten by Edwardstone in the Tingle Creek when last seen.
Newbury 15:35 – Monviel
The big betting race of the day in a handicap hurdle over an extended 2m. MONVIEL is up 10lb for an impressive win in a small field last time but I still feel he’s got a great each-way chance for Tom O’Brien and the master Philip Hobbs. What I like about my hope is that he stays really strong, and I don’t think he has to be up with the pace as he was when scoring. His staying on effort at Sandown last term suggests he can run through horses and he’ll do for me as a lightly raced horse who can improve.
