Stolen Silver bolted up at Cheltenham in April on good ground and he unseated in the Paddy Power Gold Cup in November. He then bounced back and finished second on New Year’s Day. This is a poor race and Stolen Silver should win.
I’m going to give Annual Invictus a chance with Freddie Gordon taking off 7lbs. The Chris Gordon yard are in really good form and while his form dipped towards the end of last season, he remains unexposed over the trip and he’s worth a go.
It’s difficult to go against Love Envoi for Harry Fry. She’s not a backable price but she’s also not worth taking on. There could be a slight question mark about the ground but she should win.
I’m yet to be convinced that Hitman wants 3m so I’m taking a chance on Fanion Destruval for Charlie Deutsch and Venetia Williams. He was an eye-catcher here in the Coral Trophy here in November and after a horrible start in the race, he ran on strongly. He finished third at Wetherby on Boxing Day and he’s only got 2lbs to find on Hitman.
Haddex Des Obeaux is an interesting runner and while he could give Jonbon a good go, Nicky Henderson’s runner will likely have too much for his rivals.

This is a very interesting race and I’ll be keeping an eye on Filey Bay and Icare Allen at the top of the betting, however, I’ve got a couple of big-price punts.
First up is Onemorefortheroad for Neil King, who has been out of form recently. He was really progressive last season and he ran well on his reappearance at Aintree in October, however, he didn’t follow that up at Ascot in November when finishing eighth. Hopefully things are turning around for the King yard and he’s really well handicapped, as well as being a big price.
My other pick is Yorksea for Gary Moore, who has a great record in this race. Niall Houlihan takes 3lbs off and he won last time out at Fontwell on Boxing Day. He’s been crying out for a big field and he gets that here.

Newbury 15:00 – Greaneteen
Greaneteen really should be winning this to throw his hat into the ring for the Champion Chase. The odds aren’t great but he should win.
