It's the Betfair Hurdle on Saturday and Mick Fitz has his best picks for the tellybox action on ITV Racing.

Mick Fitzgerald’s horse racing tips:

Warwick 13:30 – Stolen Silver
Newbury 13:50 – Annual Invictus
Warwick 14:05 – Love Envoi
Newbury 14:25 – Eldorado Allen
Warwick 14:40 – Jonbon
Newbury 15:00 – Greaneteen
Newbury 15:35 – Monviel & Glory and Fortune (each-way)

Warwick 13:30 – Stolen Silver

This looks the perfect opportunity for Stolen Silver as he’s run in big handicaps this season and finished a good second in a really hot race last time. Galahad Quest is the obvious danger with cheekpieces on. He ran a very good race last time at Wincanton. Stolen Silver should be well suited by this track that prioritises good, accurate, jumping.

Newbury 13:50 – Annual Invictus

I have gone round and round with this race and while a couple strike me as decent alternatives to Annual Invictus I’m sticking with him. He has won over this trip on decent ground when winning at Cheltenham earlier this season and ran very well back there in a competitive race. Trainer Chris Gordon is operating at a very healthy strike rate and gets the nod with his son Freddie claiming 7lb off him. Regarding Ruth was almost the selection as this one has a decent each-way chance but the 645 days off is a worry.

Warwick 14:05 – Love Envoi

This looks the perfect warm-up for the Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham. This daughter of Westerner is a Cheltenham Festival winner already and she has looked better than ever this season. Molly Olly’s Wishes is in a much easier race now and has to be respected. Theatre Glory won very nicely here last season but Love Envoi can see them off.

Newbury 14:25 – Eldorado Allen

Joe Tizzard’s Eldorado Allen has to carry a penalty for his win in the race last year. He wears cheekpieces to help him travel better through the race. Fanion D’estruval could win if the cheekpieces work and help him jump better and he has run two of the best races at this track, so that makes him attractive. Hitman bled from the nose last time in the King George. There is no doubt about his class and ability, but that is a concern.

Warwick 14:40 – Jonbon

I put him up as a horse to follow at the start of the season and I see no reason to change my mind about Jonbon in his final tune up for the Arkle Chase favourite. El Fabiolo threw down a marker last weekend though so there’s no room for error.

Newbury 15:00 – Greaneteen

He won the Holden Gold Cup and was runner-up to Edwardstone in the Tingle Creek. This looks the  perfect race for Greaneteen to get back to winning ways.

Newbury 15:35 – Monviel & Glory and Fortune (each-way)

Philip Hobbs’ Monviel won a handicap on decent ground at Ascot in November. He made a lot of the running that day. He jumped really well, travelled beautifully and bolted up. He has been put up 10lb in the weights but I thought he was probably value for more in a race that was  run in a decent time.

The worry about this race is how much pace there is in it, with lots of these likely to race aggressively. Paddy is paying 5 places so I’ll have a little bit each-way on Glory And Fortune.

He’s 5lb higher this year than when winning last year. This race will really suit this strong traveller. Filey Bay is now with Emmet Mullins in the JP McManus colours and this son of Fame and Glory has to go into the ‘could be anything’ category as he won very easily in the fog at Wincanton. The handicapper is guessing with his mark because we just don’t know how good he is.
