Horse Racing Tips: Jason Weaver’s best bets under the Friday night lights

Jason Weaver is all over the Dundalk and Chelmsford action.

Jason Weaver’s Friday night tips:

17:45 Chelmsford – James Bradley
18:00 Dundalk – Teutates
18:15 Chelmsford – Fast Style
19:15 Chelmsford – Smooth Red
19:30 Dundalk – Jaafel
20:15 Chelmsford – Simply Gorgeous

17:45 Chelmsford – James Bradley

James Bradley managed to win on his second try in a handicap around this venue over the mile in what was a strongly- run contest. It didn’t pan out as well at Wolverhampton last time but returning here and stepping up in distance is definitely the way to go on his pedigree. Keep an eye on You Saw Brigadoon in the market, who is making his handicap debut for Stuart Williams.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

18:00 Dundalk – Teutates

Teutates had obviously been flying under the radar at home by just going through the motions in the training regime but there was no mistaking the way he lit up when stepping onto the racecourse for the first time at Dundalk. He could be slightly overlooked in the market as he has to carry the penalty for winning last time, and there is a possibility that Cash Out will be supported strongly again as connections try to get their money back.

18:15 Chelmsford – Fast Style

Fast Style has made a bright start for his new trainer Michael Appleby and we can expect an improved display again on Friday night. He’s stepping up in distance and while he can race a little aggressively in the early stages at times, iff there is no pace to run at, he may well go and pop along on the front end himself. That looks sure to suit in this small field.

19:15 Chelmsford – Smooth Red

It was no surprise that Smooth Red left his previous poor form behind when stepping into a handicap last time. He dropped back down to the minimum 5f distance and it nearly paid off, but he hit a flat spot when the taps were turned on. Connections have decided to step him back up to 6f on a turning track now and lots of the opposition are trying headgear for the first time to squeeze some improvement. Smooth Red is clearly still on the up.

19:30 Dundalk – Jaafel

It’s going to take a big effort from Jaafel on a perch of 79 to get his head in front, but given the way he managed to win back-to-back races over course and distance before Christmas, he’s worth sticking with. He hasn’t had much go his way in two efforts since then but he is drawn down on the paint which will suit his hold-up style. He can be played fast and late to deliver.

20:15 Chelmsford – Simply Gorgeous

Simply Gorgeous put up a much better display on her first try for the new Phil McEntee yard at Kempton when catching the eye. She hit the line strongly after looking in trouble when the pace quickened. We know plenty about most of these in opposition as they have been on the circuit for some time. Simply Gorgeous has a bit of wriggle room from where she is positioned on a mark of 56.
