This can go to former Grade 2 chase winner SECRET INVESTOR, who ran respectably in a Class 2 handicap at Chepstow on his comeback in December and looks an exciting recruit to the hunter chase scene. The main danger is Mister Whitaker, who was a very useful chaser in his prime and should have a productive future in this sphere.

13:50 Miah Grace

Fable and Eureka Creek bring low mileage into the race but they do need to bounce back from disappointing runs in December. Effernock Fizz should make a bold bid but she looks handicapped to the hilt and MIAH GRACE is preferred. Jedd O’Keeffe’s mare beat a solid performer at Newcastle nine weeks ago and a 4lb rise should be within range.

14:20 Conquredalofeurope

The Questioner did well over hurdles last year and still has scope to progress from last month’s winning chase debut but CONQUREDALOFEUROPE travelled sweetly for a long way when third in a stronger marathon chase than this at Haydock in December and he might be the answer. Eclair De Guye and No Cruise Yet also make the shortlist.

14:50 Gwennie May Boy

Rewired will give his running and the two McCain horses need respecting after solid runs last time, but GWENNIE MAY BOY is taken to make a successful handicap debut with AJ O’Neill’s claim welcomed.

15:25 Crambo

Kankin and Waspy (preferred in that order) both showed enough in bumpers to suggest they can win over hurdles fairly soon but CRAMBO looked quite useful when winning on his hurdling debut at Ascot in November and his subsequent Grade 1 defeat is not viewed harshly. Donnacha also enters calculations.

16:00 Basford

Horacio Apple’s can progress from last month’s winning handicap debut at Ayr if today’s less testing ground suits but preference is for BASFORD, who is ahead of the handicapper after running a big race from the front at Sedgefield recently and could be hard to catch if the headgear continues to have a positive effect. Rouge De L’Quest is next on the list.

16:35 Well Vicky (NAP)

The most obvious answer is WELL VICKY (nap), who landed a gamble on her handicap debut at Hereford on Sunday and still looks very well treated under a 7lb penalty. Spitfire Girl can put up a fight if the first-time cheekpieces enable her to replicate the form she showed at Uttoxeter two starts ago, while there are very some unexposed ones to monitor closely in the betting.
