It could be that DO YOU THINK needs some time between races and she’s well handicapped on her win at Hereford when beating a mare who has gone on to better things. Merry Mistress is making her debut over fences but there are chase winners in the family and she looks a safer bet than the other two runners.

13:50 – CHARLES ST

Most of these have chances. Handicap debutant CHARLES ST was perhaps found out by the soft ground here last time after going close at Warwick. Bridge Road is second choice despite beginning to look exposed, while Izayte and Dusky Days can also have a say.

14:25 – CONCETTO

The suggestion is CONCETTO who, judged on his Irish point-to-point form, looks a likely improver switched to chasing. Rostello, who looks interesting back at this level, is second choice ahead of Master Malcolm.

15:00 – RARE EDITION

After producing a performance that turned a few heads at Kempton, RARE EDITION (nap) can maintain his unbeaten record under rules en route to one of the novices at Cheltenham. Ginny’s Destiny has raised his game on softer ground but still appeals as the most likely danger, ahead of Persian Time.

15:35 – THE WISE TRAVELLER

Preference is for THE WISE TRAVELLER, who holds solid claims on this season’s form and may have more to offer in staying handicap hurdles at this level. Bird On The Wire, who has a largely consistent record in cheekpieces, is second choice ahead of San Pedro De Senam who ought to improve on last year’s effort in this race. Guillemot has possibilities if he takes well to the new headgear.

16:10 – HYDROPLANE

Competitive stuff. HYDROPLANE hasn’t been seen over jumps since last March but he’s a very capable hurdler on his day and has benefited from the addition of cheekpieces on the Flat. Bourbali (second choice) has to be of interest after giving a progressive novice something to think about at Kempton, while Sonigino is better than he showed in the Greatwood and Gipsy De Choisel could yet show improved form.

16:45 – FLIGHT OF FREEDOM

As regards the runners who already have bumper form, FLIGHT OF FREEDOM makes the most appeal ahead of Clararose then Whisperonthewind. Several of the newcomers are interesting, most notably Moon Lady and Of Course You Can, while the rules debutante Brendas Asking also needs a close look. Any positive market moves should be heeded.
