14:05 – Junior Rattler (each-way)
My first selection comes in the extended 2m Handicap Chase where JUNIOR RATTLER (each-way) could be worth a punt on his handicap debut for Oliver McKiernan and Phillip Enright. The son of Arakan paid his way for connections over hurdles with several placed efforts and two victories, which included success off a hurdles rating of 106 at Punchestown a few seasons back.
He was well beaten in two novice chases this season but the drying ground conditions and an opening run in handicap company over the bigger obstacles could see him challenge in what looks a competitive contest. Itsalongroad is another lively contender for Charles Coakley having mixed runs on the Flat, over hurdles and fences.
He showed some signs of returning to form at Limerick over Christmas and can be competitive alongside Ardamir who ran well when finishing sixth at Naas before Christmas.

16:25 – Glenmalure Lodge (each-way)
This 2m 7f handicap hurdle looks another tricky contest on the card with six of the previous nine winners aged seven-years-old, which might help the chances of Cast Iron, Silverstrand and From This Moment if stats are your thing. However, GLENMALURE LODGE (each-way) is the horse I like here for Phillip Rothwell and Paddy O’Hanlon, with this mare returning to hurdles having been pulled-up over fences at Down Royal at Christmas.
The daughter of Mahler has previously knocked on the door off 80 and 81 when second twice at Ballinrobe last year and with drier conditions expected and the use of first-time cheekpieces, she can be competitive in another open looking contest. Presenting Point and Da Big Fella also return to hurdles with the joint top-weight looking the biggest danger for me on debut for new trainer Brian O’Keeffe.

17:00 – Nick Rockett (Nap)
We leave the NAP to the final race where NICK ROCKETT can strike in the closing bumper for Charlie and Willie Mullins. The son of Walk In The Park won his sole point-to-point for Pat Doyle at Curraghmore before finishing fourth to Doctor Bravo on his rules debut at Fairyhouse in early December.
He travelled strongly and looked the winner turning for home before plugging on under Patrick Mullins, with the form of that race working out extremely well in recent months. Gordon Elliott’s winner Doctor Bravo has won a maiden hurdle at Down Royal with Stellar Story, Magic Dawn and Bohemian Summer other subsequent winners coming out of that contest.
Elsewhere, Littlefoot looks the biggest danger in my opinion following a hard fought second (beaten a nose) to Lucky Lyreen at Down Royal at Christmas with Lazer Wolf an interesting runner for in-form Gavin Cromwell on his rules debut.
