13:20 – American Mike (each-way)
Paul Townend decided to ride Quais De Paris as Grangeclare West was disappointing in the Lawlor’s Of Naas last time out. Personally, with nine runners n the race, I’m going to forgive AMERICAN MIKE his defeat at Navan. He hasn’t run in a while and I’m assuming Gordon Elliott has gone back to the drawing board with him. American Mike’s bumper form is very good and with a big each-way angle, that’s the bet for me.

13:55 – Gust Of Wind (Betting Without Lossiemouth)
Lossiemouth has shown the best form and she beat Gala Marceau here at Christmas. She was very, very good. She’s won at Fairyhouse as well and is rock solid. She’s that kind of price so where do you go away from her?
Gala Marceau has improved there’s no doubt about that, Tekao won a maiden but I’m not sure how strong that was, Gust Of Wind won well at Auteuil but that was in September so it’s very unusual for Willie Mullins to go to war with those horses. You would like what you see at home but it’s hard to gauge. We’ve had him since October but he’s not coming off a summer break. Cinsa and Jourdefete are both maidens so you can narrow it down to the four.
I’d probably chance GUST OF WIND in the Betting Without Lossiemouth market. I like what I see at home. He won’t beat Lossiemouth but he could get close to her in front of Gala Marceau and that will do to collect in this market.
14:30 – Appreciate It (nap) & Saint Roi (each-way)
This is an absolute belter. SAINT ROI will be coming off the pace and I think he could be value each-way purely because of the way he will be ridden.
It will be a really strongly run race as you have Flame Bearer and Dysart Dynamo who like to go forward, El Fabiolo and Banbridge won’t be too far away and Appreciate It won’t be too far behind the pace.
It could set up for one coming from off the pace if you’re looking a bit of value and that could be Saint Roi but I do think Paul Townend has gone for the right horse as I would like to be on APPRECIATE IT. He’ll do for me and is my NAP!
15:05 – Galopin Des Champs & Any Second Now (betting without Galopin Des Champs)
Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup
Galopin Des Champ is in great form. I think he’s a much more mature horse this year. He jumped brilliantly in the John Durkan. There’s pace in there with Kemboy, Stattler won’t be too far away and neither will Galopin Des Champs. I think he’ll win but there’s no value in the price.
Stattler should be second but he’s only 1lb in front of ANY SECOND NOW and I think my dad’s horse could run really well. I wouldn’t be surprised if he finished second. He’s in great form, he had one run this season when he finished second in a hurdle race at Punchestown behind Saint Sam. He could run into the money behind Galopin Des Champs at a price.
I hope Galopin Des Champs is impressive but you’re not going to know on Saturday whether this horse gets three-and-a-quarter miles or not, you are not going to know that until the Friday at Cheltenham.
15:40 – Gatsby Grey (each-way)
Belle Metal has been disappointing and Blue Sari, who ran okay behind Gaelic Warrior at Clonmel, would need a lot of rain to fall.
I like one at a huge price. GATSBY GREY finished second in the Bective Stud Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown last year. Mighty Potter won the race, Sir Gerhard was third and Dysart Dynamo was fifth – and I know that was a two mile race but he steps up to three miles off a mark in the high 130s. Phillip Enright rides and Oliver McKiernan’s horses are in good form and I’ll chance him each-way.
If he was to win and I looked back at that form I’d be thinking, ‘how did I not put him up at that price?’

16:10 – Rebel Gold
REBEL GOLD beat Dunvegan in the Dan & Joan Moore Memorial and he’s up 8lbs for it. That form is fairly solid as Dunvegan ran to his mark in the Tingle Creek and I thought he had a chance in the Dan & Joan Moore Memorial but Rebel Gold beat him by nine lengths. I still think my selection is on the up, even as a 10-year-old.
16:40 – Chosen Witness
There’s no point in putting up CHOSEN WITNESS for the Champion Bumper if I don’t think he can win at Leopardstown. Patrick Mullins has opted for Fact To File, who won over two-and-a-half miles over Christmas, and I expect he will have improved a good bit for that.
…and two bonus tips from Ruby for Saturday’s ITV Racing…
Musselburgh 14:03 – Regina Dracones (each-way)
Jumping is an issue for REGINA DRACONES but a mark of 128 and Darragh O’Keeffe going to Musselburgh to ride makes her worth an each-way look at a big price.
Sandown 14:20 – Gerri Colombe
GERRI COLOMBE‘s form doesn’t scream Grade 1 but he’s the kind of horse to only just about beat what he faces. I think he’ll be okay to cope with the step up in Grade.
