Banntown Girl returns having finished third in this contest last year to Party Central and Say Goodbye. Danny Mullins take the ride and the likely better ground at Leopardstown on Sunday could help her. She’s lightly raced, fitted with first-time cheek pieces and has a decent each-way chance.

13:40 Leopardstown – James Du Berlais

Mighty Potter deserves to be favourite as he’s achieved the most. I’m not a fan of Gaillard Du Mesnil. I’ve landed on James Du Berlais, even though it’s interesting that Paul Townend has picked Gaillard Du Mesnil over him. James Du Berlais could have loads of ability and he’s just been touched off in a couple of Grade 1s. He won his chase debut easily at Fairyhouse and he’s got the most potential.

14:10 Leopardstown – Sceau Royal (Betting Without Blue Lord)

Blue Lord will win this. Gentleman De Mee has been really disappointing and if I had to pick something I’d back Sceau Royal in the Betting Without Blue Lord market. He should follow Blue Lord home but there aren’t too many major betting angles.

14:40 Leopardstown – Mars Harper (each-way)

I can see why Indigo Breeze is at the top of the market and he looks well handicapped off 133 but Gordon Elliot also has Mars Harper, who is very interesting. He ran three times in November and December, finishing second twice and fourth last time out. He was second here at Christmas and that was off a mark of 126. He’s now rated 132 and is capable of going well in this after being highly tried and looks a cracking each-way option.

15:10 Leopardstown – Honeysuckle

Maybe my heart is ruling my head but I’m going with Honeysuckle and taking on State Man. There’s something about State Man that I’m not sure about and he’s not electric. People have written off Honeysuckle but the form has been franked since. The ground should be a bit better and she’s looking for her fourth win in this race. I would be surprised if State Man can beat her comprehensively.

15:40 Leopardstown – No Looking Back (Betting Without Facile Vega)

You wouldn’t be too keen to take on Facile Vega and we all know Willie Mullins has a habit of getting them ready to peak at the right time. I’m going to take a big chance on No Looking Back in the Betting Without Facile Vega market. He won at Thurles last March and he won at Thurles and Limerick in December. He won relatively easy in both of those wins and while he needs to improve his jumping, he has plenty of ability.

16:10 Leopardstown – Effernock Fizz (each-way)

Gaelic Warrior could win off a mark of 143 but I’m not sold on him. If he wins here, he’s a genuine Supreme Novices or Ballymore Hurdle runner but I’m chancing Effernock Fizz at a big price. He won at Ffos Las on October and he’s had a couple of solid second-place finishes at Tipperary and Cheltenham in the last few months. He had a spin on the flat at Dundalk last month to leave him spot on for this.

16:40 Leopardstown – Rockstown Girl (each-way)

Patrick Mullins rides Fun Fun Fun but I’m taking a chance on Rockstown Girl for Anthony McCann. She’s won one of her three runs when impressing at Roscommon in July. She then finished third at Gowran Park before being fourth at Leopardstown in December. She’s a big price so I’ll have an each-way punt.
