A tight and interesting contest. Chemical Energy was visually impressive at Cheltenham but his two rivals ran no race that day so he is hard to assess and would probably prefer better ground. Ramillies has every opportunity to be a progressive chase at this trip while Amirite could well be capable at this level. It might be worth taking a chance with THEDEVILSCOACHMAN, the best of these over hurdles and likely to appreciate the extra trip here.

13:32 – Percy Warner

An open race where not that many appeal much. Clonbury Bridge will go close on his run over C&D in November, while Aarons Day will appreciate the drop in class. Preference is for PERCY WARNER, yet to show his best for this stable over fences but well-handicapped on his hurdles form for Gordon Elliott.

14:07 – Sinbad Le Marin

Not a bad contest with plenty of collateral form to go around. Almuhit had a few of these behind when a good second at Punchestown two weeks ago and he should be capable of franking that form and even improving on it. Preference is for SINBAD LE MARIN who ran well despite failing to settle at Punchestown last month and should shape better here.

14:42 – Echoes in Rain (NAP)

The majority of these, including last year’s winner Darasso, C&D maiden hurdle winner Meet And Greet and Bob Olinger all want further. One that will be very much at home over this minimum trip is ECHOES IN RAIN (NAP) and in receipt of all the allowances will be very hard to beat.

15:17 – Seabank Bistro

It should pay to give last season’s Champion Bumper fourth SEABANK BISTRO this chance to atone for two odds-on defeats. He was beaten by a progressive horse at Limerick and can take the measure of Kansas City Star, twice placed in maidens before out of his depth in the Challow Hurdle. The other Elliott runner Present Soldier created a big impression with a 2021 point win. Sam Magee, a more recent point winner, confirmed promise on his hurdling debut.

15:52 – Neveradullmoment

Third to Bigz Belief in this event 12 months, NEVERADULLMOMENT has prospects of stepping up two places now that he is more mature. He ran respectably at Leopardstown after Christmas, a remark that also applies to possible dangers Low Style and Gold Speed. Limerick winner Doyen Ta Win also rates a likely threat.

16:27 – Western Diego

It will be interesting to see how Suttons Hill fares following his 10l second to the highly impressive Willie Mullins-trained It’s For Me at Navan eight days ago. Mullins may again have the solution with WESTERN DIEGO, winner of his only point-to-point start last season. Will Do should make his presence felt, and Built By Ballymore, who failed to settle in a run over hurdles last month, looked useful when second in a Punchestown bumper last April.
