Ben Pauling’s GET PREPARED won over hurdles here off a similar mark and last month’s chase debut was highly encouraging. Forward Plan is feared most on this return to a longer trip, while Dragonfruit should also be on the scene with the cheekpieces back on.

It remains to be seen how far Monte Igueldo might go as he’s won both his chases with a degree of comfort. This race is stronger, however, and CALICO (NAP) looks a big player now that he returns to his best trip. Heartbreak Kid is preferred of the remainder unless Out On The Tear comes in for support.
14:25 – Norman Fletcher
All three newcomers have appealing pedigrees but experience may count. Cawthorne Banker, Doc McCoy and Irish point winner Smiling Getaway are highly likely to be bang there but the 4yo NORMAN FLETCHER was sent off favourite to beat two previous winners at Ffos Las and he made a nice start to his career in splitting them at the finish.
15:00 – Father of Jazz
Strong Leader didn’t half look good in defying a penalty at Aintree and that form has been franked, but he has two penalties to carry this time and some respected opposition against him, notably in the shape of FATHER OF JAZZ. He was smart on the Flat and, after chasing home a well above-average rival at Huntingdon, he got found out by the soft ground at Kempton on Boxing Day.
15:35 – Richhill
This is not a strong maiden and it’s one that RICHHILL needs to be winning convincingly for his Cheltenham entry to be realistic. There were plenty of positives to take from his third in a stronger race at Chepstow. A Definite Getaway and Roccovango are the alternatives.

Fergal O’Brien’s SHALLOW RIVER has come along very nicely thus far and he looks ready for today’s step up in distance. Clonakilty shouldn’t be knocked too harshly for coming up short with a penalty on heavy ground at Leicester and this handicap debutant rates the main danger. Doctor Dex is another with claims.
