A 1m 2f claiming race starts the card and Colin Keane Is booked to ride Beyond Boundaries for trainer James McAuley. If he got back to his form of his Southwell run two starts ago just before he switched from the Andrew Balding stable – he’d be a player now. Hurricane Helen is a multiple winner in the UK but her best form is over a mile. Final Fantasy has an ok record at this trip while Chimeric has yet to win in 29 starts but ran on well last time. However, John McConnell’s Make The Switch could be the value play each-way dropping right down in trip. With a lot of suspect stayers in the field he could be coming home strongly down the straight if he can tack onto the leaders early on.
A 1m 2f handicap where the top weight runs off a mark of 80 where Colin Keane is booked to rider Bowerman. This looks a stronger race but I’m happy to watch him this time. Higher Kingdom was a wide-margin winner over the while and made good late headway last time but is not the most reliable. We’re no strangers to Havana Pearl, who got a fair hike for winning last time. I’m drawn to Roman Bull who travelled well here last time out but faded a bit in the closing stages. That run came after a break and with Billy Lee booked to ride – he has won on him before – Roman Bull can go close. The top-weight Whatharm is respected.
Just eight runners declared for this mile contest where the consistent Pub Talk may be best suited by 7f rather than the 1m trip now. The best form on offer though is Jazz Forever for the Mick Halford yard who ran on well in his last start here earlier in the month when fifth to Teutates in a 1m maiden. An opening handicap mark of 71 looks workable and Billy Lee takes the ride.
The long sprint distance of 7f is up next in an apprentice maiden. Bold Ribb is miles ahead on ratings but finds it very hard to get his head in front. I wanted to take him on but can’t really find one to take him on with. He’s been beaten at long odds on but if ever he’s going to win a race this will be it. He’s drawn wide which made help him stay out of trouble. His stablemate Sea Oscar is interesting dropping down in trip on stable debut. Circles in consistent but drops in trip also.
I’m happy to watch Hey Kameir on her return to action with an eye on her future runs. I’m with SelectivePower for Eddie Lynam, who won here a couple of runs ago. He’s better than his last run when finishing eighth earlier this month and he can bounce back after getting a low draw.
This is a cracking race and you can make a case for quite a few of these runners. I’m happy to go against Coolcalmncollected given his quick turnaround and I’m interested in Dynamite Katie in stall four. She’s dropping back to 6f and she could be the value pick after an impressive win here in December.

I’m hoping Hero Of The Hour can run a big race in first-time blinkers. He could be the value selection after an impressive run at Dundalk earlier this month when finishing fourth.
