The vote goes to low-mileage 6yo EUCHAN FALLS, who pulled a long way clear of the others when second to a well-backed and unexposed rival at Ayr this month. Blue Shark has done very well since upped to this sort of trip and is a likely danger as he attempts to complete a four-timer. Samatian, Having A Barney and handicap debutant Hokelami are others for the shortlist.

14:35 Wetherby – No Risk Des Flos

Having made it 3-3 at Wetherby when impressive here in November, NO RISK DES FLOS earns the vote in the hope he can bounce back from his disappointing run here over Christmas. Iron Bridge remains an interesting prospect and is feared most ahead of the consistent Ubetya and last month’s C&D winner The Paddy Pie.

Bob Murphy’s mare DARRENS HOPE is a tough sort and has had adequate time to recover from a battling Grade 2 win in November. Allowed to retain her existing mark, she has a fighting chance against the Mullins and Elliott big guns. Pencillfulloflead, Frontal Assault, Escaria Ten can lead the charge for Elliott, while Carefully Selected is the most interesting of the Mullins runners. Eric McNamara’s Donkey Years is also respected.

15:50 Southwell – Mr Funky Monkey (Daily Record)

The vote goes to MR FUNKY MONKEY, who is heading in the right direction. Sapphire’s Moon, who looks interesting back at classified level, is second choice. Ustath and Stroxx are other obvious players, judged on their course form last week.
