12:53 – Chavez

A tricky contest, but it might pay to give CHAVEZ another chance. A promising novice hurdler for Paul Nicholls last season, he exited at the first on his chasing debut at Down Royal. Conna Cottage stayed on notably well in a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown last month and could feature if adapting to chasing. Tony Martin runs four here, with Brookie and Golf Marin potentially the most interesting.

13:23 – The Tack Room

The in-form Gavin Cromwell has every chance with Sweet Will, an impressive winner over hurdles at Cheltenham and now competing off a mark 10lb below his revised chase rating. But a chance can be taken on John Kiely’s THE TACK ROOM, badly hampered at the eighth when 21l fourth behind Difficult Decision at Limerick. Overall, he seems more dependable than the winner who is 9lb higher now.

13:53 – Three Card Brag

THREE CARD BRAG was possibly unlucky not to win a Grade 2 at Navan last time, his cause not helped by the omission of hurdles in the straight and a lack of pace which resulted in a sprint finish. His Graded race form makes him superior to Spanish Harlem who ran a promising race on his Irish debut at Gowran. The consistent Dovlator appears to have plenty to find with the two likely market leaders.

14:23 – In Excess

There should be a fair amount of improvement to come from IN EXCESS following a second placing at Limerick on his Irish debut. He may get the better of Firm Footings, a bumper winner who is dropped in trip after being placed in two maiden hurdles over 2m4f, and Birdie Or Bust, second to a short-priced stablemate to the selection first time out at Tramore. Hurdling newcomer Coeur D’Or makes some appeal.

14:53 – Desert Heather

After three consecutive wins during the autumn points campaign, DESERT HEATHER underlined her rate of improvement when second in a maiden hurdle at Limerick. She travelled well and is just preferred to Hauturiere who made an encouraging reappearance at Limerick but has a habit of finding one too good, as when just in front of third-placed Emily Roebling at Limerick.

15:23 – So Des Flos

The unknown quantity is Belper, a half-brother to Grade 1 novice chase winner Coney Island. He looks the most likely danger to the well-related SO DES FLOS, a stable outsider when making a pleasing debut over a shorter trip at Leopardstown. Volantis has place claims on his bumper form. Buachaillbocht is unexposed.

15:53 – Happy Dreams

There could be more improvement to come from Carbon King, who is 10lb higher than when winning at Naas. However, he may not give the weight to HAPPY DREAMS (nap), a much-improved performer over fences since his last hurdles start and now seemingly well-handicapped. Stablemates Dragon’s Pass and Banada Bridge are capable of featuring.
