12:40 – The Big Doyen
THE BIG DOYEN was useful in bumpers and has made a promising start over hurdles, shaping like he was in need of the run on his debut in this sphere at Fairyhouse in November and finished first past the post at Punchestown later that month. He was demoted in the stewards’ room after causing interference, but the third home that day has won impressively since, and The Big Doyen is fancied to progress again and get the better of Doctor Bravo, who looks promising in his own right.

13:15 – Champella
This looks an open race but there is a chance that CHAMPELLA has even more to offer. She was a winner in bumpers and, while she was fortunate to make a successful debut in this sphere, she was better than ever when resuming winning ways at Wexford when last seen in October. She was ridden confidently on that occasion and a similar ride now moving back in trip may be good enough to see her follow up. Like the selection, An Mhi and Clonshire River are low-mileage types who could have more to come and they head the dangers.

13:50 – Circus Act
CIRCUS ACT remains a maiden but she has been progressing gradually over hurdles, running her best race two starts back at Galway in October, and she didn’t shape badly on return from 12 weeks off when third at Clonmel seven days ago. A mistake at the final flight cost her second place that day and she is one to be interested in now handicapping, especially as she is entitled to strip fitter for that outing. Kalanisi Dubh, who opened her account over course and distance on Boxing Day, may prove the biggest danger, ahead of Knocknagappagh.

14:25 – Limerick Lace
While it was a little disconcerting that LIMERICK LACE failed to find much under pressure when runner-up at Limerick last month, she nevertheless pulled clear of the rest and may well make it third time lucky over fences here. Irish Blaze made his chase debut in the same race, finishing an encouraging fourth, and with improvement likely he is nominated as the main danger ahead of stablemate Slige Dala, who may have more to offer back over fences.
15:00 – Bidentime
BIDENTIME didn’t show a great deal over hurdles, but he was a most encouraging fourth in a big-field handicap over two miles on his chase debut at Naas last month, and may well have finished closer had he not been hampered at a crucial stage of the race. Moving back up in trip will be in his favour and he’s open to improvement in this sphere, so he looks the way to go from what looks a potentially lenient mark. Spancil Hill has put in good shifts on his last two starts and should be on the premises, while Finnians Row and Garrai Phaidin are others to consider.
15:35 – Angels Dawn
ANGELS DAWN won a maiden hurdle at Limerick and has shown improved form since sent chasing, beaten only a short head on her handicap debut in this sphere at Punchestown last month. She was well supported that day and relished her first try at three miles over fences, and an error at the last cost her more ground than she was beaten by. Angels Dawn in 4 lb higher now but remains a horse to be positive about at this level. Ballykeel and Arverne look the main dangers.
16:10 – No Time To Wait
NO TIME TO WAIT made a solid start when finishing third at Leopardstown just after Christmas, showing fairly useful form and pulling clear of the remainder with a couple of promising sorts. There should be improvement in him now and he’s narrowly preferred to Macdermott, a notable newcomer for a top stable. Soldier Solid, who ran well in a novice hurdle last time, is another one to consider.
