13:10 – Allegorie de Vassy

ALLEGORIE DE VASSY, a winner on both of her starts over hurdles for Willie Mullins last season, created a sparkling impression on her chasing debut at Limerick last month, bolting up by 19 lengths after tanking her way through the race. She was untidy over the last couple of fences but otherwise jumped fluently and she is an exciting prospect in this sphere. Allegorie de Vassy should prove far too good while Brides Hill, who was runner-up at Naas last time, looks the most likely to chase her home.

13:40 – Chacun Pour Soi

CHACUN POUR SOI, an outstanding performer at his best, might not quite be the force of old, but he shaped as if retaining plenty of ability on his reappearance at Leopardstown last month. Chacun Pour Soi was ultimately third in that Grade 1 event, though he probably would have finished runner-up to the impressive winner, his stablemate Blue Lord, had he not made a significant error at the second-last when close up. Chacun Pour Soi has been campaigned at trips around two miles so this step up to two and a half miles poses a new question, but he should still prove up to the task.

14:10 – Gallyhill

GALLYHILL has made an encouraging start since joining Gordon Elliott and he ran well when runner-up in a two-mile handicap chase at Fairyhouse last month. Gallyhill found a last-time winner too strong, but he jumped well and stuck to his task in pleasing fashion, pulling well clear of the remainder. He’s gone up 2 lb but remains on a competitive mark and should have no problem stepping back up in trip.

Thurles

14:40 – Belle The Lioness

BELLE THE LIONESS, a winner on her only start in bumpers, shaped with promise when runner-up on her hurdling debut at Punchestown in November and she took a step forward when filling the same position in a listed race here last month. Belle The Lioness shaped well last time, keeping on well after being forced to switch on the approach to the final flight, and she remains open to plenty of improvement. This looks like an excellent opportunity for her to get off the mark over hurdles, with Mollys Glory the one most likely to chase her home.

15:10 – Santonito

SANTONITO offered something to work on when fourth on his hurdling debut at Punchestown in October and he improved on that form to finish runner-up at Naas the following month. Santonito, fitted with cheekpieces for the first time, then took another step forward when getting off the mark over hurdles at Clonmel last month, showing an excellent attitude to prevail after losing momentum at the second-last. That’s up there with the best form on offer and Santonito remains open to further improvement, so he should go close if seeing out this longer trip.

15:40 – Hey Johnny

HEY JOHNNY ran about as well as could have been expected in the face of a very difficult task when fourth in the Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle, which was won by Impaire et Passe, but he looks to have been found a more suitable opportunity back in handicap company here. The form he showed in bumpers and the pick of his efforts over hurdles suggest that he’s on a fair mark.

16:10 – Billaway

BILLAWAY had to settle for second in this last season but he went on to win his remaining three starts of the campaign, including the hunter chases at Cheltenham and Punchestown. Those victories marked him out as just about the pick in the division and he looks the one to beat on his reappearance, with fitness unlikely to be an issue given the form of the Willie Mullins yard.
