An interesting maiden hurdle with some nice recruits from the Flat up against Gordon Elliot’s filly CALICO, who has been a model of consistency so far in her career. She has some strong form to her name, including a second placed finish in a listed race at Aintree back in early December, and she ran a fine race to fill that spot again at Punchestown a fortnight ago. She will be a tough nut to crack. Metamorpheus belied odds of 100-1 to finish third at Limerick, travelling notably well in that contest. He showed a likening for soft ground that day and could run a big race if building on his hurdling debut. Almuhit was a smart peformer on the Flat for John Gosden and ran a nice race on his hurdling debut, he has the ability to feature here.
Interesting race. Some towards the bottom of the handicap, such as Anstand and the Tony Martin pair Falvio and Nemean are very interesting. Hat-trick seeking Little Mixup has a leading chance, as has Brandy Harbour off his more favourable hurdles mark. Put Capture The Action and Ballinlough Gale into the mix too. The vote though goes to the unexposed THE KING OF PRS who should come on for an eyecatching effort at Fairyhouse last month.
EABHA GRACE is going to prove extremely hard to beat here. She already has some smart form to her name in just two starts over hurdles, particularly her third placed finish behind Hiddenvalley Lake and Santonito in Naas, and she looks to be a level above these. Gaye Winnie was set a tough task on debut given it was a well-above average maiden hurdle she contested and she looks likely to battle it out for minor honours with Parvos, who was returning from a 19 month absence when seventh in Limerick over Christmas. Her debut run in Ballinrobe has worked out well and she can run a nice race if she comes forward from her last run.
There is still more to come from the likes of Tramore winner Ahead Of The Posse and possibly from solid performer Champ Royal. Top-weight Gali Flyer sets a good standard on his Leopardstown form, but the one to beat is VERDANT PLACE (nap) after a deeply eyecatching handicap debut here in November.
Klarc Kent should do far better than he did at Fairyhouse last month, while the step up in trip is likely to suit Heyjoe De Kerser. However this looks an ideal opportunity for LETSBECLEARABOUTIT, taking a big drop in class after finishing second in a Limerick Grade 2 latest.
Chances can be given to the likes of Aide De Camp and Dr Val at the top of the handicap, while Seangoell and Mahler Appeal come into it on recent runner-up efforts. A few of these though come here on favourable hurdle marks such as Follow The Crowd and Captain Jimmy. The one to make most appeal is WALKING THE WALK, in good form over fences and a big player if able to reproduce his third to Jungle Prose at Down Royal.

Why Delilah for Gordon Elliot is the unknown quantity in this race, but those with experience have some nice form in the book. A chance can be taken on BOP BOP BOBBIN for Luke Comer who ran a promising race on his debut under rules at Leopardstown on Stephen’s Day. He was well beaten into third that day, but the front two potentially look very smart and he can run a big race here back in calmer waters. Stage Lady also has solid claims if she can progress from her encouraging debut at Limerick.
