12:30 – Clovis Boy

There’s little form to go on in this junior national hunt hurdle but CLOVIS BOY starts out with the Lucinda Russell yard in superb form and edges the vote. Four of Russell’s last nine runners have won.

13:00 – Atlantic Dancer

ATLANTIC DANCER took advantage of a drop in the weights to open her account at Ayr in March and she ran to a similar level when runner-up at the same course on her return last month. She was brushed aside by the winner last time, but she did pull well clear of the remainder so has obvious claims off the same mark.

13:30 – Dragonfruit

DRAGONFRUIT finished last season out of form, but he bounced back to his best when runner-up at Sedgefield on his reappearance in November. He was no match for the winner, though would have finished closer than the eight lengths he was beaten had he not made a mistake at the second-last. He’s able to run off the same mark here and represents a yard among the winners so he makes the most appeal. A first-time visor replaces the usual cheekpieces.

14:00 – Traprain Law

TRAPRAIN LAW bounced back to form to register a convincing win over this course and distance on his penultimate start, seemingly showing the benefit of a breathing operation and reverting to front-running tactics. He was beaten on merit by a less-exposed rival in a novice hurdle back over this course and distance last time, but he ran creditably to finish runner-up and appeals as the solid option here.

14:30 – Beat Box

BEAT BOX shaped with encouragement when runner-up at Hexham on his return to action following another breathing operation, and he confirmed the promise of that effort when scoring at Ayr last month, repeating his win in the same race from the previous year despite getting loose on the way to post. That victory last time highlighted that Beat Box has returned in excellent order, and he can defy a 7 lb rise in the weights.

15:00 – Just Dont Know

JUST DONT KNOW ran up to his best when runner-up over this course and distance on his return last month and he performed to a similar level when filling the same position in a two-and-a-half-mile handicap chase at Newcastle last time. He is a tough, likeable sort who will have no problem stepping back up in trip, so he ought to give another good account, despite being 2 lb out of the weights here.

15:30 – Duke of Deception

DUKE OF DECEPTION offered a bit of encouragement when sixth in a big-field novice handicap on his chasing debut at Uttoxeter last month and he could be worth siding with in this weaker affair. Duke of Deception displayed only modest form in three starts over hurdles, but he had shown some promise in bumpers and was also placed in an Irish point which offers hope there could be more to come.
