13:00 – MONJULES
MONJULES landed a gamble on his debut for Harry Fry at Sedgefield at the beginning of December and the style of that victory suggests he may have even more to offer. He loomed up approaching two out and went for home soon after, idling on the run-in and having more in hand than the official margin suggests. A 7 lb rise is fully justified and he is strongly fancied to follow up. Sermando arrives on the back of some good placed efforts in similar company and ought to go well again, too.

13:30 – KATEIRA
KATEIRA looked a cracking prospect when bolting up in a bumper on her debut at this course last season and belied some market weakness when making a winning start over hurdles at Uttoxeter in November. That form looks solid for the grade and she displayed a smart turn of foot, very much looking a horse to follow, and she should be able defy a penalty before moving up in class. The main danger could be Lets Go To Vegas, who was a game winner of her first start under Rules, and is another who in entitled to progress.
14:00 – THE COB
THE COB was a Grade 2 winner over hurdles as a novice but didn’t cut any ice last season in some competitive handicaps. He shaped encouragingly on his return and posted a career-best effort when making a winning start over fences at Uttoxeter last month despite being 2 lb out of the weights. He beat a couple with previous experience in good style that day and he still looks well treated following a 7 lb rise. Jay Jay Reilly seems sure to step up on his Ffos Las return and is feared most.
14:30 – INNESTON
This looks a potential match between INNESTON and Western Zephyr and preference is for the former, who won a bumper in France, and shaped with plenty of encouragement on his yard and hurdles debut at Newbury a fortnight ago. That was a strong event on paper won by his bigger-priced stablemate, and Inneston is entitled to sharpen up for that outing which was his first start for 15 months. He is well up to winning a race of this nature and can take advantage of the weight he receives from Western Zephyr.
15:00 – PERSEUS WAY
Cases can be made for most of these but PERSEUS WAY took his form up a notch when finishing a close third in a Grade 1 at Chepstow over the Christmas period and with Gary Moore having tasted success in this corresponding event 12 months ago, he’s taken to repeat the feat today. Last-time-out winners Polyphonic and Samuel Spade both warrant plenty of respect with better to come so they can chase home the selection.

15:30 – MANINTHESHADOWS
MANINTHESHADOWS didn’t fire on his only previous go over fences, but has thrived over hurdles since, looking better than ever when making a winning return at Hereford. He is well worth another chance in this sphere and this mark looks appealing provided his jumping holds up at the second attempt. Dan’s Chosen is a solid alternative and Smoking Pigeon is likely to build on his recent chasing debut here.
16:00 – DESTROYTHEEVIDENCE
The market should reveal plenty in this closing bumper with no form to go on but Kim Bailey has his string in excellent nick, and has a good record in this sphere, so his well-related DESTROYTHEEVIDENCE gets the vote. Nigel Twiston-Davies has also enjoyed more success in bumpers this term and his Corporal Jackjones is feared most ahead of Lone Soldier.
