Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
Quercus Robur is the obvious starting point, under a penalty for last Wednesday’s easy win here, but the improvement for his new yard has come over further and this is a bit deeper. Thunder Gap and handicap newcomer Unbridled Power have low mileage and are considered, but HILDENLEY ran a solid race in better company over C&D early last week to enhance an already decent course record, so he gets the nod.
The step up in trip could be a major plus for IMPERIAL PRIDE, as she stayed on well when sixth of 14 over 2m3f at Taunton on last month’s handicap debut. Brandisova is a standout danger, having bumped into the highly progressive The Imposter when runner-up at Lingfield last time. Maura Jeanne may be best of the remainder.
The mare LADY BOWES may have needed the run at Haydock in November and earns the vote on account of a couple of solid efforts on heavy ground last season. You Some Boy wasn’t at his very best at Wetherby last month but was a good second previously and is a likely danger. Ratfacemcdougall and Mr Washington can’t be ruled out in a weak race.
A few of these have a question mark against them back over the minimum trip, but less so INDIAN SOUNDS who didn’t run at all badly when fourth over C&D last month and takes another drop in grade. Wee Fat Mac and Kraken Power each have the form to figure if not inconvenienced by the trip, while it will again be interesting to see how Modular Magic fares in the market.
