AUBIS WALK cost £120,000 after winning an Irish point and she has shaped with plenty of promise in two starts under Rules, appreciating the step up to two and a half miles on her return at Kelso last month, just outbattled by a more street-smart rival, and she is sure to find that experience benefiting her progression. She is taken to improve past standard-setter Champagnesocialist, who was turned over at prohibitive odds at Sedgefield on her latest start in November.
HORACIO APPLE’S remains a maiden but he has shown definite signs of ability in bumpers and over hurdles so far and the handicapper may have taken a chance with his opening mark of 103. He shaped well behind a good prospect on his debut in this sphere at Carlisle and, while he didn’t progress as expected last time, a similar effort to his hurdling debut may see him hard to beat now handicapping in a modest event. Dot Cotton should relish this return to a longer trip having come home well for third last time, while in-form maiden September Daisy appeals as the pick of the remainder.
MASKED CRUSADER won a couple of novice hurdles at Carlisle and Kelso last season but he failed to meet market expectations on his handicap and chase debut on his return at Catterick in November. That was his first start since undergoing a breathing operation and he shaped like he may have needed it, and he showed the benefit of it last time, sure to have won but for unseating his rider at the last. Cheekpieces may sharpen him up now and he remains of interest from 1 lb higher. Paddy The Horse arrives on the back of two wins over hurdles and is the obvious danger if taking to fences (point winner).
A chance is taken on SILKEN MOONLIGHT, who was always likely to struggle back over hurdles following a lengthy absence at Southwell in November and, with that run under her belt, better can be expected now that she returns to this sphere and a stiffer track. The in-form Rocco Storm is an obvious threat having lost little caste in defeat when second in his hat-trick bid at Sedgefield last time, while Broomfields Kan could have a part to play if he puts his best foot forward.
The Sandy Thomson and Ryan Mania combination can do little wrong at present and KILBRAINY stands a good chance of providing them with another win. He ran his best race to date over hurdles when runner-up on handicap debut at Musselburgh last month and the drop back to two miles shouldn’t be against him round here. Agiluf showed a clear aptitude for hurdling when third in a pair of Catterick juveniles and could have more to come in handicaps, so he’s a possible threat where few arrive with compelling claims.

An interesting small-field bumper with the narrow vote in favour of the returning ISENAY. He started at a big price on debut at Punchestown in the spring, but there was plenty of promise to glean from his midfield effort that day, and he’s expected to take a step forward from that now for a yard that do particularly well in this sphere and at this track. Esprit du Potier and Lucky Solider both showed plenty when finishing second in course and distance events recently and can also be involved.
