Winning pointer Telmesomethinggirl was a smart sort over hurdles – she won the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival – and she made an encouraging start over fences when runner-up at Thurles last month. Telmesomethinggirl was ultimately beaten three and three-quarter lengths at Thurles, though she would have finished closer had she not made a mistake at the final fence (her only one of note). She is entitled to improve for that experience.
Appreciate It, the 2021 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner, created an excellent impression on his chasing debut at Punchestown last month, looking a top-class prospect as he readily quickened clear of the reopposing Top Bandit. Appreciate It needed just a hands-and-heels ride to storm seven lengths clear and he’s an exciting prospect who remains capable of much better when the situation demands it. Top Bandit is likely to chase him home again.
Shakeytry shaped as if needing the run when down the field in a big-field handicap hurdle on his return at Navan in November and he took a step forward on that effort when fourth in a handicap chase at Thurles last month. Shakeytry was hampered by some sloppy jumping last time and if he can put in a more accurate round here he ought to go close off a competitive mark.
Irish Point won a Grade 1 bumper at Saint-Cloud on his third and final start for his former yard and, after moving to Gordon Elliott, he created a good impression on his hurdling debut at Cork in November, winning that maiden with plenty in hand. He faced a much stiffer task in the Grade 1 Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse last time, but he emerged with plenty of credit in second, just failing to fend off the winner’s late surge. This step up in trip provides him with a different test but he has the best form on offer and looks worth siding with.
Hunters Yarn, a three-time winner in bumpers, came up short in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown on his reappearance in November, but he shaped with promise in third behind a couple of rivals with race fitness on their side. Hunters Yarn is entitled to be sharper with that outing under his belt and he stands out as the one to beat.
Cadatharla has shaped with some encouragement without hitting the frame in three starts in maidens and he retains the potential to do better now going handicapping. Cadatharla shaped like he was unsuited by the drop in trip at Cork last time so the return to this stiffer test is in his favour.

Sattam boasts an eye-catching Flat pedigree being by Sea The Stars and out of an unraced half-sister to Goodwood Cup winner Saddler’s Rock. Sattam is in good hands with Dermot Weld and looks one of the more likely types on paper. Boots And Jeans is another with plenty of speed in his pedigree and is high on the shortlist.
