I’m inclined to go against Gemirande as I have my doubts about him, despite him leading the betting. I’m going to take a chance on Peejaybee. He won here last year, as well as winning another couple of times over hurdles. He fell last time out but he jumped well up until that point. He will make a solid chaser and he’s the best handicapped horse in here.
This is a really tough race to call. I’m not sold on Messire Des Obeaux so I’ve landed on Magic Saint. He’s the best treated horse in this race but he’s a really frustrating horse to follow so be careful!
I’ve already backed Frero Banbou at a bigger price than he is now but he was overpriced. If the rain comes and the going turns soft, it will really suit him. He’s a strong stayer over this trip.
I want to take Desque De L’Isle on as he’s vulnerable and I’m with Interne De Sivola, which is still a bit of a gamble. He’s unexposed and Jane Williams is a stable in form.
Arctic Bresil is incredibly hard to weigh up but Henry de Bromhead wouldn’t be sending him over if he didn’t think he’d go close. Authorised Speed is probably the deserved favourite but I’m not sold on him and I’ve landed on Colonel Harry and Blow Your Wad at big prices. On paper, they’ve both achieved as much as Arctic Bresil so they’re worth taking a risk on.
This is the race of the weekend for me and I like Saint Xavier. He’s well handicapped and his 5lb rise for his win at Haydock last time out is very lenient. He bolted up that day.

Djelo could easily bounce back from his defeat at Haydock in November but it’s hard to back him as the favourite. I’ve landed on Iceo but it’s a tentative pick so I’ll be going with a small stake. He won at Kempton at the end of 2021 and he was beaten twice at Cheltenham and Kempton last year. Things came too quickly for him last season and he could go well here.

15:15 Wincanton – Chianti Classico
Chianti Classico is the standout and he was useful in bumpers last season. He looks like he’s going to be a useful chaser.
15:35 Sandown – Iceo
