Willie Mullins could hardly have asked for a softer introductory race for French Group 2-placed ALASTOR and it would be a major surprise if he could not win this. Dubai Clover can be best of the rest.

It might be worth forgiving NEY’s run at Thurles last time out when too bad to be true and he can give a good account back over this course and distance. He gets weight from Caldwell Diamond who has a similar profile to the selection. Invictus Machin looks like a nice prospect but may be better suited to further than this.
13:37 – Japers Jack
Walk On The Brise is likely to be a short-priced favourite in a decidedly ordinary contest, but does not set a daunting standard. One that might have a chance of lowering her colours is JAPERS JACK, progressive in two runs over hurdles with the step up in trip likely to suit.
14:12 – All Those Years
Smallish field but an interesting race. Top-weight Lucky Max will appreciate the drop in trip, while Rodaniche is certainly interesting if he can reproduce his form of a year ago. Takarengo is another that should go well, but the selection is ALL THOSE YEARS, winner of the novice hurdle at this meeting a year ago after a long absence and potentially ahead of the handicapper.
14:47 – Hard Rain
Not much depth to this race unsurprisingly. Trishknowsbest would have a chance if able to run to her hurdles mark. Union Park has the advantage on experience, while Paladian Jewel has scope for improvement after a good run at Thurles. The most likely winner is HARD RAIN after a solid effort in a handicap chase at Naas last month. A reproduction could be good enough.
15:22 – Yabo
Carrolls Cottage posted his best effort over fences last time and the longer trip is fine. However, at a likely bigger price, it might be worth taking him on with the mare, YABO. She took her form to a new level when winning on return and while she fell when bidding to follow up at Thurles, she’s worth giving another chance to from a lenient looking mark. The consistent Halsafari can give another good account.

15:57 – Fancy Girl
Tilloughna sets the standard on Rules form but she could be vulnerable to any above average rivals. FANCY GIRL is preferred after a game win in a point on debut prior to her sale for £200,000 and she can help enhance her yard’s excellent strike-rate in bumpers this term. The newcomer Double Dating is an obvious danger for Gordon Elliott.
