VISITANT is a 10-year-old veteran but a horse who has always run well at Newcastle, including January last year when he picked up his last win. Hasn’t been seen much since, with just the three runs including in December when showing plenty of promise running on late to finish 3rd and closing.
He’s three wins from eight at the track and a further two place efforts so rarely out the frame here, and the form from that latest run has been boosted with the winner coming out and winning again. At a mark of 47 today and won last year off 46 so looks well handicapped and has won off 66-76 previously. Has a big chance if able to replicate most recent effort.
19:00 – Kempton
TipMan Selection – Ignac Lamar
Wager: 1.5 points each-way
IGNAC LAMAR is a low-mileage four-year-old who’s had one career start at Kempton resulting in a very close second, beaten a neck. That effort was in a higher grade than today and he since went on to compete in a Class 2 at Nottingham when last seen, running with credit. He may have found that contest a bit too hot and the ground a bit too quick.
He looks very well suited to the all-weather surfaces and ‘speed figure’ wise – he’s right up there with the rest in this contest. Galaxy Gazer is another who will probably be the pace angle but he’s got a wide draw to overcome which is never ideal at Kempton. Ignac Lamar can mow him down close to home.
20:00 – Kempton
TipMan Selection – Wizarding
Wager: 1.5 points each-way
WIZARDING is a front-running type who’s had two career starts at Kempton, which is a course specialist track. He has run with credit on both occasions, winning two starts back before a very close second last time out when almost making all, but being run down late on. The front two were plenty clear that day so it was a decent clip and there doesn’t look too much competition for an early lead. He could get the run of the race again and dictate it to suit him.
He has only raced five times and comes up against horses who’ve run three times that amount, so we definitely haven’t seen the best of this four-year-old yet. He can continue to improve under a very lenient 2lb penalty from the latest effort.
