13:00 – Fazayte

FAZAYTE was largely disappointing for Tom Symonds last term but he has shown more for Ryan Potter this season, winning a handicap hurdle at Stratford and a handicap chase at Market Rasen. He ran well back over hurdles at Market Rasen on Boxing Day, finishing runner-up to an in-form rival, and he holds strong claims from the same mark here.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

13:30 – Tessy Lad

TESSY LAD, a three-time winner on the Flat, was unable to justify significant support on his hurdling debut at Newcastle in November, but he posted an encouraging effort in third. Tessy Lad found only a couple of higher-rated rivals on the Flat too quick at the end of a very steadily-run race, and he is entitled to progress with that experience under his belt.

14:00 – Diegos Way

DIEGOS WAY raced too keenly when a distant third over four miles at Hexham last time but he had been an emphatic winner of a three-mile handicap chase at Bangor the time before and is better judged on that effort. Diegos Way had four and a quarter lengths to spare at Bangor and the form of the race has worked out well with the third, fourth and fifth all going on to win next time out. He is 8 lb higher than at Bangor but still appeals as being on a decent mark and is worth a chance to bounce back from a disappointing display at Hexham.

14:30 – Saint Segal

SAINT SEGAL made a bright start to his career over hurdles last season, winning on a couple of occasions and finishing runner-up in the Finale Juvenile Hurdle at Chepstow, but he already looks a better chaser based on his ready success in a novice handicap at Chepstow in November. Saint Segal impressed with how accurately he jumped in a soundly-run race on his chasing debut, and he comfortably drew four and a half lengths clear under a hands-and-heels ride, winning with plenty in hand. He looks like one to follow over fences and is up to defying a penalty in this novice chase.

15:00 – Dont Rightly Know

Winning pointer DONT RIGHTLY KNOW presumably hasn’t been the easiest to train as she has recently turned eight and only had two starts under Rules, but a reproduction of the form she showed when last seen at Uttoxeter in December 2021 could be enough to take this. Don’t Rightly Know very much had the run of the race when able to cut out a steady gallop on her way to finishing runner-up at Uttoxeter, but that was still an encouraging effort.

15:30 – Loup de Maulde

LOUP DE MAULDE has made a good start since joining Robbie Llewellyn and made it two wins from four starts (also placed twice) when a comfortable winner at Huntingdon on Boxing Day. Loup de Maulde was in command a long way out on his way to registering an eight-and-a-half-length success and this progressive staying hurdler will take all the beating off the same mark here.

16:00 – Shaws Cross

SHAWS CROSS is still searching for a first win over fences – it’s been more than three years since he last won over hurdles – but he has been proving consistent of late and was unlucky to bump into another handicap blot when runner-up at Plumpton last month. That was the third time in succession that Shaw’s Cross has finished runner-up, highlighting that he’s in good form at present, and he ought to give another good account.
