Queens Brook, a daughter of Shirocco, needed her first run at Limerick but showed her true form when winning comfortably at Punchestown after that. This extra trip shouldn’t be a problem.
Gaillard Du Mesnil must be the best novice chaser not to have won over fences that is running at the moment. He won at this meeting two years ago when winning his maiden hurdle. He won a Grade 1 at Punchestown over hurdles too and he finished second in the Drinmore last time. He was also placed at the Cheltenham Festival behind L’Homme Presse so his form is top drawer. Three Stripe Life’s saddle slipped when he made a mistake last time, hence he was pulled up. He won at Naas before that.
It has been a very good meeting thus far for Willie Mullins and this looks another benefit for him. State Man looked really good when beating Sharjah last time in the Morgiana. As much as I love Sharjah, around here it is hard to see him turning the form around. Vauban could be the improver as he won despite not jumping perfect in some of his races. He has a real engine and could be the surprise package in here.

I put Hardy Bloke in my tracker having watched him run at Cork. He made too many mistakes and will have to jump better than he did at Cork, however, he is way better than his handicap mark. This could be the first step towards fulfilling that promise.
