ITV Thursday gets under way here with a Grade 3 Mares’ Hurdle over 2m4f. This looks a match between QUEENS BROOK and Shewearsitwell and I’m very much with the former for Gordon Elliott. My hope was a good winner at Punchestown last time and I feel will just have a bit too much pace for her big rivals under the excellent Jack Kennedy.
Now a Grade 1 novice chase over 3m. This appears another match between Three Stripe Life and GAILLARD DU MESNIL. The latter has been consistent without winning of late, but gets gilt-edged opportunity to score. Another success here. Stamina looks to be his strong suit, and the fact he ran so well in Grade 1 company last time over much shorter is a good omen. Paul Townend rides for Willie Mullins.
The Grade 1 Matheson Hurdle over 2m. A really good race, but I find it hard to oppose STATE MAN for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend. The County Hurdle winner progresses all the time, and while Sharjah does well in this he was well held by the selection the other day in the Morgiana. Vauban lacks a run.
ITV are also at Doncaster Thursday for this handicap hurdle chase an extended 3m. This is wide open. NESTORPARK has been beaten the last twice off his current handicap mark of 139 so he is no good thing for Ben Pauling. That said, the stable is in great form and my hope stays really well. Luca Morgan is on top and takes off a valuable 3lb and this track should suit as he can jump left on occasions. An eachway chance.
A handicap hurdle over 2m4f. HARDY BLOKE jumped terribly when beaten at a short price last time – but in the hope he has been schooled plenty since then I think he’s worth sticking with for Emmet Mullins. Clearly a mark of 109 is very workable and Brian Hayes is on top now which might make a difference.

A Listed mares’ chase over an extended 2m4f. Hard to get away from ZAMBELLA for Nigel Twiston-Davies and Daryl Jacob. The mare seems to be improving and will stay better than most. Posted a fine success at Carlisle last time and capable of more.
So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
