In the 3m Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle I like the look of dual Stayers’ Hurdle winner Flooring Porter for Gavin Cromwell. I’m not convinced that Bob Olinger is a three-miler, so I’d have reservations about him. Klassical Dream won this last year when getting an easy lead at the start. Flooring Porter was second that day and had won it the previous year. Flooring Porter will run his race and whatever beats him will win.

The Grade One 3m Savills Chase is the feature race on the card and Cheltenham Gold Cup winner A Plus Tard will most likely head the market. I like one at a bit of a price and that’s Fury Road. He won the Nevilles Novice Chase on the card last year and was second at Aintree behind Ahoy Senor and was also third at the Punchestown Festival. There’s question marks about everything in this contest – particularly with A Plus Tard being pulled up on seasonal debut so Fury Road is worth a small bet at a big price.
