This looks a decent race. CUTHBERT DIBBLE kept grinding away when close up behind Gardener here last time and today’s deeper surface might well help him. The latter is clearly a danger, while previous winners Clonakilty, Red Dirt Road and Mount Tempest are others with solid claims.

12:45 – Unexpected Party
This can go the way of UNEXPECTED PARTY who has made a good start to his chase career and the bar is lower here than on his first two attempts over fences. There are possibilities about most of his rivals on their hurdle form but Loughderg Rocco could be the main danger after making a good fist of it on his chase debut at Wetherby. Gentleman At Arms is also respected on his hurdle form now switched to fences.
FANCY A CHANCE TO WIN £/€10K?
13:20 – Turning Gold
Fancy Foundations is way ahead on official handicap marks but it’s very unlikely he is worth his current one and he was soundly beaten in his latest Irish hurdle start under similar conditions in June. None of these are too convincing but it could be worth chancing TURNING GOLD back from a break given that he has won both his course starts, including on soft. Enthused has plenty going for him on his Flat form but whether he will make a hurdler remains to be seen and Marajman is a token choice for second place.
13:55 – Captain Ivan
Keepyourdreamsbig was returning from a layoff when running respectably on his chase debut at Worcester and he is a likely improver but CAPTAIN IVAN looked ahead of his mark when winning at Southwell and is preferred. C&D winners Obey The Rules and Ben Buie are also respected.
14:35 – Playful Saint
Dan Skelton’s very lightly raced PLAYFUL SAINT (nap) stands out with his recent second at Sandown, faced today with a variety of opponents who may or may not put their latest efforts behind them. Some fine-tuning of the tactics have seemingly been needed with the 4yo Milldam but he has been showing something this term. Martinhal returns from wind surgery last December.
15:10 – Our Jet
While the 4yo filly Ile De Jersey has obvious claims after her pleasing start over fences, preference is for OUR JET who jumped soundly when running so well in defeat at Southwell. He can find something on that form. Tap Tap Boom and Dame Du Soir are other leading candidates.

Although a beaten favourite on his stable debut at Chepstow, KEPLERIAN didn’t run at all badly and this is probably more his trip than 2m. Blended Stealth will surely click sooner or later and he ran well here last time. Hillfinch and After The Fox also merit a second look.
