12:05 -Tekao

J P McManus could hold the key to this very interesting opener and TEKAO, who was unable to justify market confidence on his Navan hurdling debut a month ago, still shaped very well in third and, with considerable improvement possible, he is narrowly preferred to ownermate Goodie Two Shoes, who quickly reached a useful level on the Flat. Zanndabad and Almuhit are others who should have bright futures over hurdles if they can translate anything like their Flat ability to this new discipline.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

12:35 -Dysart Dynamo

DYSART DYNAMO looked a horse right out of the top drawer when winning his first three starts over hurdles and he started joint-favourite for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. He wouldn’t have won even if he kept his feet on that occasion and he ran a shocker on his final start at Punchestown, but he looks very interesting now switched to fences. He looks a chaser and will take plenty of beating with a clear round. Slip of The Tongue caught the eye when fourth on his Navan chase debut and can edge out Henry de Bromhead’s Irascible for the forecast spot.

13:10 – Chacun Pour Soi

CHACUN POUR SOI is rising 11 years of age, but he proved he is still capable of top-class form when winning the Dublin Chase at this course last season, and he sets a good standard in what doesn’t look the deepest renewal of this Grade 1. He won this race a couple of years ago and was withdrawn at the eleventh hour 12 months ago and he will prove hard to beat if anywhere near his best. Stablemate Blue Lord has met with defeat only once over fences and should be suited by how this race will be run, so looks the obvious danger.

13:45 – Facile Vega

FACILE VEGA was one of the best horses seen in bumpers for a while last season and he looked a top prospect when making a winning start over hurdles on his return at Fairyhouse earlier this month. The bare form can’t be rated too highly, but he is almost certainly capable of better, and it will be a major surprise if he is beaten here. Willie Mullins also fields Ashroe Diamond, Intranet and Il Etait Temps, with the first-named the most appealing option for forecast purposes.

14:20 – One Last Tango

The hat-trick beckons for ONE LAST TANGO, who raised his game when opening his account over hurdles in a handicap at Punchestown in October. He improved again when following up in a novice event at Wexford and this revised mark should be beyond him back in handicap company. Marvel Fan lost little caste in defeat when just touched off back in this sphere at Thurles recently and she is next on the list, while Walnut Beach also enters calculations in this big-field handicap.

15:00 – Ain’t That A Shame

In a typically competitive renewal of this valuable contest, the vote goes to AIN’T THAT A SHAME. He failed to make an impact despite coming in for plenty of support in the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival on his final start of last season but resumed with a fine effort in the Munster National at Limerick where he was collared close home after making a mistake at the final fence. He’s gone up 7 lb for that but probably has more to offer in this sphere so is well worth another chance. Donkey Years is feared most ahead of the same owner’s Ciel de Neige, who will be a danger to all if staying this longer trip.

15:35 – Fact To File

The obvious starting point in a race where the ones with form under Rules don’t set an exacting standard is FACT TO FILE, who represents powerful connections and he looked the part when scoring between the flags in February. Needless to say, it will be an ominous sign for his rivals if there’s confidence behind him in the betting. Will Do was runner-up in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown on Rules debut and should make his presence felt but Irish Panther is second choice. He had subsequent bumper and hurdles winner Leave of Absence behind in third when second in a point last year.
