11:55 Market Rasen – Lucky Robin (Timeform)

Most of these have lots to prove but LUCKY ROBIN and Long Call could be the pair to focus on from reduced marks back hurdling, with preference for Brian Ellison’s veteran.

11:57 Fontwell – Givega (Frank Hickey)

GIVEGA was a point winner at Tralee in May 2021, is an Authorized half-brother to a listed winner in France and is from the family of Quevega. He was well backed on his hurdles debut at Lingfield over 2m on soft ground and very impressive when winning by 13l. That form hasn’t worked out as yet but looks capable of better and Gary Moore has won this race the last two times it has been run.

12:00 Leopardstown – Parmenion (Ruby Walsh)

The action on St Stephen’s Day or Boxing Day, depending on where you’re watching, begins bright and early. I think PARMENION can get the day off to an absolute flyer for Willie Mullins in the first race at Leopardstown.

12:50 Newcastle – Rocco Storm (Timeform)

Already a dual winner this autumn, ROCCO STORM again ran well when runner-up to one potentially thrown-in at Sedgefield 5 weeks ago. Nicely on top of the remainder that day, he remains one to be positive about and gets the nod.

13:23 Down Royal – Jack In The Box (James Shortt)

JACK IN THE BOX was lightly raced over hurdles, winning his maiden at Naas back in March before returning at Galway and finishing third at Thurles when stepping up in trip last month. The ground won’t be an issue and the drop back in trip from his disappointing effort over further at Thurles is another advantage to see the Cullentra House team land this race again, following success with Noble Endeavor (2015), Sutton Manor (2017), Isle Of Destiny (2019) and Fakir D’alene last year.

13:28 Wincanton – Sizable Sam (Timeform)

Preference is for SIZABLE SAM, who goes well at this venue and left his previous efforts in this sphere well behind when runner-up at Exeter last month.

13:35 Wetherby – Into Overdrive (Mick Fitzgerald)

I was really taken by INTO OVERDRIVE when watching him at Newcastle. He jumped superbly and travelled almost too strongly. That will suit in a race like this at Wetherby and I take him to make use of the weight he receives from Chantry House.

13:47 Huntingdon – Seelotmorebusiness (Timeform)

A host in with chances but SEELOTMOREBUSINESS looked set to go close before departing late on at Newton Abbot when last seen 14 months ago. He’s selected to give Harry Derham the perfect start to his training career at the expense of Moveit Like Minnie, who showed improved form to get off the mark in impressive fashion at Taunton last month.

14:30 Kempton – L’Homme Presse (Matt Chapman)

I’m siding with L’HOMME PRESSE, officially the best horse in the race with a BHA mark of 170. The French import has been superb since sent over fences, facing only one defeat in seven tries over the larger obstacles and victories including the Grade 1 Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase at Sandown and Brown Advisory at the Cheltenham Festival.

15:15 Limerick – Sunnyvilla (Paul Jacobs)

SUNNYVILLA has to be anchored in rear. Second in a maiden point to point and then showing distinct promise in his novice hurdle days, this is his perfect make-up. A ready winner of a 2m5f handicap chase at Clonmel last November off 87.

16:10 Wolverhampton – Via Serendipity (Timeform)

Cases can be made for a few but VIA SERENDIPITY showed that loads of ability remains despite rising 9 when runner-up at Lingfield last month. He can go one better today at the expense of Civil Law, who landed his third success of the year at this track just over 5 weeks ago.
