14:05 – NICK VEDDER
NICK VEDDER shaped better than the bare result when third at Wolverhampton last week, doing well to be beaten less than three lengths having delivered his challenge from further back than the other principals in a steadily-run race. He lines up here from an unchanged mark and it’s surely just a matter of time before he ends a losing run stretching back to January 2021. Today could well be the day with the booking of David Probert also catching the eye.

14:40 – GOT NO DOLLARS
GOT NO DOLLARS took a step back in the right direction when fourth on his latest outing at Kempton, travelling smoothly before his effort flattened out in the final furlong, ultimately passing the post around four lengths behind the winner. He is 1 lb lower in the weights today and just 2 lb higher than when registering his most recent victory over six furlongs at this course in February. He looks ready to strike again if building on the promise of his run last time.
15:15 – ELEGANT ELLEN
ELEGANT ELLEN produced her best effort of the campaign when third over this course and distance earlier in the month, finishing strongly from a less-than-ideal position (raced off the pace) to be beaten just a length and a quarter. That wasn’t the first time she’s put herself on the back foot with a slow start, but she is clearly on a workable mark and could be the most solid option in a race where plenty of her rivals have questions to answer.
15:45 – HEY LYLA
HEY LYLA showed improved form when third on her nursery debut at Kempton 10 days ago, sticking to her task well to be beaten just a length. Admittedly, she very much enjoyed the run of the race on that occasion having dictated a modest gallop, but there didn’t appear to be any fluke about her performance. That form sets the standard now back in a maiden and it looks a good opportunity for her to get off the mark unless one of the newcomers proves to be above average.

16:15 – MAN ON A MISSION
MAN ON A MISSION ran another solid race when filling the runner-up spot at Southwell on Tuesday, ultimately proving no match for the much-improved winner (beaten nearly four lengths) but keeping going well to pull clear of the rest. This will be a quicker-than-ideal turnaround, but it looks a much weaker race now back in 0-55 company. He’s been nothing but consistent on the all-weather this winter and should continue to give a good account.
16:45 – BASS STRAIT
BASS STRAIT wasn’t seen to best effect when having her first run for Sheena West (formerly trained by Mick Channon) at Lingfield last time, never really threatening to get on terms having been shuffled back two furlongs out. She is entitled to strip fitter with that first outing for 12 weeks under her belt and that was her first try at two miles, so she remains totally unexposed as a stayer. Most of her rivals arrive here out of form and it could be a good chance for her to finally get off the mark.
17:15 – MEASURED MOMENTS
MEASURED MOMENTS has shown improved form from out of the blue to win her last two starts at Wolverhampton. She was well on top at the finish on the last occasion, hitting the front a furlong out and quickly asserting from there to beat a next-time-out winner by two and a quarter lengths. This will be tougher following a further 6 lb rise in the weights, but she’s clearly going the right way and is fancied to prove equal to the task in her hat-trick bid.
