Walking On Clouds has made a bright start since joining Grant Tuer, finishing runner-up on his first start for the yard at Newcastle last month and then catching the eye when a close-up fifth at the same venue a couple of weeks ago. He had to be switched to get a clear run last time, but he impressed with how well he finished off his race and he remains on a handy mark (he’s 1 lb lower than the mark he defied at Fairyhouse in May for his former stable).
Sweet Idea shaped better the result would suggest when third on her nursery debut at Chelmsford last month as she travelled better than most but met some trouble in running. She found herself short of room a furlong out when making headway but she kept on well when in the clear to grab third, leaving the impression that she’s capable of better.
Twilight Madness shaped well when third at Chelmsford in October and he confirmed that promise to run out a game winner at Newcastle last month, adding to his solid profile on the all-weather. Twilight Madness was tackling five furlongs for the first time at Newcastle and he coped well with the test, showing plenty of speed before knuckling down well to get the verdict by a neck. He holds solid claims after a 3 lb rise in the weights – he has been competitive off higher marks in the past – and he ought to launch another bold bid.
Mick Appleby fares well with his recruits and Zealot is an interesting runner on his first start for the yard. Zealot didn’t offer much in maiden/novice company at five or six furlongs for Joe Tuite, but he showed much-improved form when upped in trip to a mile on his handicap debut and first start for Eve Johnson Houghton at Kempton in September on his return from a 19-month absence. Zealot failed to back up that positive impression on turf at Chepstow but he returned to form when third on the all-weather at Kempton in October. He is able to run off the same mark as at Kempton and remains open to improvement on this surface so looks the one to side with.
Blazeon Five relished the step up in trip to two miles when getting off the mark at Kempton in September, seeing things out thoroughly to register a comfortable two-length success. She built on that promise over the same course and distance the following month to defy a 5 lb higher mark, beating a couple of subsequent winners, and she remains unexposed as a stayer. This longer trip shouldn’t pose a problem and she can brush off another 5 lb rise in the weights to complete the hat-trick.
Eligible didn’t seem to cope with the drop back to six furlongs at Newcastle last time, looking uncomfortable with the pace, and he is better judged on the form of his previous success over this course and distance of seven furlongs at Southwell. Eligible made smooth headway early in the straight and led on the bridle in the final 100 yards before being pushed out to a length-and-a-quarter success. The form of that has worked out very well with the second and third both winning next time out, and he should go close if bouncing back to that level.

Ebury is on a losing run of 29 that stretches back to September 2019 but he wasn’t beaten far at Wolverhampton last time, offering enough to suggest he can capitalise on a falling mark. Ebury was beaten just half a length and a neck at Wolverhampton, quickly confirming a return to form after a slightly lesser effort nine days earlier, and he should go well off the same mark here.
Divine Connection took a step back in the right direction back on the all-weather at Wolverhampton last month, finishing well to be beaten only half a length in second (Ebury, the selection for the previous race was a neck back in third). Divine Connection has a solid record on the Tapeta and holds obvious claims on the back of that encouraging effort at Wolverhampton.
