APPROACH THE CITY proved to be a disappointment on his debut for Kevin Frost (formerly trained by Matthew Smith) at Kempton a few weeks ago, never managing to land a blow having been in trouble from some way out. He is entitled to strip fitter with that first run for 10 months under his belt, though, and the fact he was gambled on at Kempton highlights that he is clearly thought capable of better. He is 2 lb lower in the weights today and well worth another chance.
13:13 – Princess Niyla
PRINCESS NIYLA shaped well amidst greenness when finishing third on her debut at Lingfield two weeks ago, doing her best work in the final furlong to pass the post just half a length behind the winner. She was arguably unlucky not to finish closer still having conceded first run, coming from further back than the other principals in a steadily-run race. That form puts her right in the mix in this novice event and she seems sure to take plenty of beating with further progress on the cards.

ATTRAZIONE produced another solid effort when finishing a close-up third at Chelmsford on Thursday, hitting the frame for the third start in a row. She was beaten just a neck and a head on the last occasion, sticking to her task well having been in the firing line virtually throughout. She can line up from the same mark today and it’s surely just a matter of time before she gets off the mark if continuing in the same rich vein of form, with the step up to a mile also likely to suit.
14:13 – Hiya Maite
HIYA MAITE failed to meet market expectations when finishing only third over this course and distance on Friday, but it wasn’t a bad run by any means, ultimately passing the post around two and a half lengths behind the winner. This is a weaker race now back in 0-68 company and he lines up from a mark only 3 lb higher than when winning his previous start at Newcastle. Still relatively lightly raced after just eight starts, he is fancied to capitalise on the drop in grade to regain the winning thread.

JACKS PROFIT proved at least as good as ever when making all to gain his second career win at Kempton a couple of weeks ago, only winning by half a length but deserving plenty of extra credit having been forced to overcome the worst of the draw. The manner of that victory suggests a BHA mark of 65 is still workable and another big run seems assured in his follow-up bid if the visor he wore last time continues to have the desired effect.
15:13 – Prince Abu
PRINCE ABU won three times last winter and the way he shaped when resuming winning ways over this course and distance last week suggests he is back in top form. He was produced to lead inside the final two furlongs and the result was never really in any doubt from there as he asserted quickly to land the spoils by a length and a quarter. He looks set for another productive winter and remains one to be interested in now turned out quickly under a penalty.
