Paseo drew clear of a next-time-out winner on the run-in at Ludlow three weeks ago and is sure to be a popular choice here but his overall profile is not entirely convincing and an interesting alternative is winning pointer BALLYBOUGH MARY, who ran quite well in her two handicap hurdles for Nigel Twiston-Davies last season and can hopefully progress from her low-key stable/chase debut in October.

Probably best known as a Stratford regular but is a dual C&D winner, ATLANTIC STORM was recently off 1lb higher in June (good to soft); gave good account when second at Hereford (2m, good) in October and can’t be ignored.
13:23 – Am I Wrong
Those who have raced set only a fair standard and it may be best to look towards the newcomers. Preference is for AM I WRONG, whose dam is from a useful family. The Dan Skelton-trained debutant Coogan’s Bluff is second choice. Samazul may be best among those with experience, ahead of Champetre.

13:53 – Idealdes Villerets
Mel Rowley’s IDEALDES VILLERETS bumped into a very good prospect when second on last month’s hurdling debut at Uttoxeter and will be a tough nut to crack if able to build on that performance. Hurdling debutante Spring Note impressed on last month’s bumper debut and is feared most. Hidden Beauty is next on the list.
14:28 – Dollar Bae (NAP)
She has been handed an 8lb rise but the manner of DOLLAR BAE’S (NAP) win at Leicester on her handicap debut suggests that she is one to stick with. It looks competitive among the rest, with Ucanaver narrowly preferred on her return to hurdling following two very early exits over fences.
14:58 – Soldier of Destiny
Mexico has returned none the worse for his year off and is well capable of winning hurdle races. However, he may be unlucky here to bump into the useful chaser SOLDIER OF DESTINY, who has had only two opportunities to show what he can do over hurdles and none since his clearly very successful wind surgery last winter. They dominate calculations despite Val Dancer’s gritty win at Bangor.
15:28 – Couldbeaweapon
The lightly raced 5yo COULDBEAWEAPON can continue his good form and add to his win at Worcester in October. Midnight Callisto returned from a break with a good third at Taunton last month and is second choice, while this return to better ground is a likely positive for Wavering Down and Belvedere Blast.
