12:25 Zarak the Brave

Ruby: Willie Mullins saddle Lossiemouth who has a tall reputation and has been working well at home. My feeling is she’ll have to be good to beat Zarak the Brave who bolted in here last time. Riske Belle was a dual winner in France while Ahgaboy makes up the quartet.

12:55 The Dabbler (each way)

Rory: The Dabbler looks a good each-way bet. He doesn’t have a good win ratio but was second in this contest last season. He’s back on a competitive mark and should definitely be one for the places.

13:25 Champ Kiely

Ruby: Champ Kiely has been the one for money in the ante-post markets and has been very good. Willie has declared four (Hercule Du Seuil, Polo Lounge, Ashroe Dancer) including Champ Kiely and there seems to be plenty of pace in the race which will suit Champ Kiely.

13:55 Banbridge, Gaillard Du Mesnil

Rory: I love Banbridge and the return to 2m 4f will suit. This is a strong looking race and he sets the standard with the form he’s shown so far. He was a decent hurdler – winning the Martin Pipe conditional race at Cheltenham – but looks even better over fences as his six-length win over Tommy’s Oscar showed at the November meeting.

Ruby: I was impressed by Three Stripe Life but less impressed by Mighty Potter of Gordon Elliott’s and the best of Willie Mullins’ four entries to my eyes is Gaillard Du Mesnil. He was tried at the top table all last season and that experience as a second-season novice should stand to him.

14:30 Honeysuckle

Rory: Honeysuckle could get a little fright here at some stage in this race even though I expect her to win. Echoes In Rain could run well. The rest like Darver Star and Klassical Dream look exposed and place-only material. Teahupoo hasn’t backed up good runs before but obviously has talented.

Ruby: I don’t think anything is good enough to beat Honeysuckle unless she has an off day. Klassical Dream would have to come right back to his best and seems in good form behind. He’s rated 2lbs behind the dual Champion Hurdle winner and has also the 7lbs mares’ allowance to contend with so that makes life very hard before the flag even goes up.

15:35 Chapeau De Soleil

Ruby: Chapeau De Soleil won his sole point-to-point start for Colin Bowe before Mrs Ricci bought him. He’s already high up in ante-post markets for the Cheltenham Bumper at the Festival next March and can get off to a winning start.
