11:35 I Am Maximus
I Am Maximus makes his debut for Willie Mullins in a Beginners’ Chase since joining from Nicky Henderson’s yard. He’s gone well and home and had decent form as a novice hurdler last season. On paper you’d say that Minella Crooner is a big danger but I wasn’t too impressed with his debut at Punchestown when second to Darrens Hope. I’ll side with I Am Maximus to make a winning start to life in Ireland and life over fences.

12:07 Whiskey Lullaby
Whiskey Lullaby contests the Ladies Handicap Chase and Jody Townend rides. Paul Townend gave her a great ride when she last won in January beating Difficult Decision. She’s fit and well but this is a competitive handicap. We’ll have better chance on the card.
12:42 Cayd Boy
Willie Mullins has two entered in the 2m Handicap Chase and Paul Townend has gone for Fan De Blues. He’s won his last wo races and went up 8lb for beating Turbo at Cork last time. The question now is whether the handicapper is getting to Fan De Blues? Mt Leinster went up 4lb for finishing second in April the last time he ran to Magic Daze, who reopposes.
Henry de Bromhead’s runner was a good winner at the Punchestown Festival but was beaten at long odds on for her season debut at Clonmel in October. A lot of these appear to be in the grip of the handicapper and the one who could upset the main players in the market could be Cayd Boy.
FANCY A CHANCE TO WIN £/€25K?
13:17 Kansas City Star
Paul Townend rides Viva Devito in the first division of the maiden hurdle who was last seen finishing fourth to Facile Vega (Redemption Day & American Mike ahead of him) in a Punchestown Festival bumper. There were a few big names behind him also. He’s in good form and should go well but Gordon Elliott’s Kansas City Star looks to set the standard and should be respected on the back of his second place finish to Ashroe Diamond last time at Naas.
13:52 Facile Vega
The second division is a little easier to judge as Cheltenham Bumper winner Facile Vega makes his eagerly-awaited debut over timber after going unbeaten last season. On all known form he just has to get around.

15:02 Explosive Boy
Willie Mullins doesn’t have a runner in the 2m 4f handicap hurdle but Tony Martin’s Explosive Boy should take all the beating. He was slightly unlucky at Cheltenham at the November meeting when beaten a head by Contrapposto and can make amends now.
15:35 Nick Rockett
The day ends with Nick Rockett in the bumper who makes his debut under Rules having won a point-to-point for Pat Doyle last season. He’s by Walk in the Park and goes well at home. A couple of the big yards are represented here too. Willie had a couple he could have run here but settled on Nick Rockett. Patrick Mullins rides.
