Sandown specialist Greaneteen faces a mighty challenge to make it back-to-back victories in the Grade 1 Tingle Creek Chase.
The three-time course-and-distance winner is set to meet five rivals in Saturday’s 14:55 including Nicky Henderson’s superstar Shishkin, who had the world at his hooves before flopping in last season’s Champion Chase.
NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?
Arkle hero Edwardstone could also make his seasonal bow if ground conditions are suitable, Willie Mullins sends over Gentleman De Mee, while Champion Chase second Funambule Sivola reappears. Dunvegan completes the field.

Tingle Creek Chase runners
Dunvegan
Trainer: P. A. Fahy Jockey: Jonathan Burke Age: 9 Weight: 11st 10lbs
Very smart chaser who landed back-to-back handicaps at Fairyhouse before creditable 12l second to Chacun Pour Soi in Dublin Chase at Leopardstown in February. His jumping will be an asset round here but faces an uphill task in this company on seasonal reappearance.
**
Edwardstone
Trainer: Alan King Jockey: Tom Cannon Age: 8 Weight: 11st 10lbs
A thoroughly likeable sort who took his winning sequence to 5 when landing the Arkle (his second win at Grade 1 level) at the Festival. Beaten by Gentleman De Mee at Aintree the following month, but his win in last year’s Henry VII Novice Chase makes him an obvious player.
****
Funambule Sivola
Trainer: Venetia Williams Jockey: Charlie Deutsch Age: 7 Weight: 11st 10lbs
Progressed well in open company last season, taking the Game Spirit at Newbury, and put up a career-best when second in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham. Failed to settle when returned to a longer trip at Aintree subsequently but no back number here.
***
Gentleman De Mee
Trainer: W. P. Mullins Jockey: Aidan Coleman Age: 6 Weight: 11st 10lbs
Likely front-runner who defeated Arkle winner Edwardstone at Aintree in April, marking him as one of the top novices in the division. Nowhere near his best on his return at Naas last month, unseating when well held in third, but can bounce back for top connections.
***
Greaneteen
Trainer: Paul Nicholls Jockey: Harry Cobden Age: 8 Weight: 11st 10lbs
Last year’s winner of this race, who looked as good as ever when winning last month’s Haldon Gold Cup by 7 lengths. Has superb C&D record (form figures of 2111, all Grade 1s) and will give Shishkin the most to think about.
****
Shishkin
Trainer: Nicky Henderson Jockey: Nico de Boinville Age: 8 Weight: 11st 10lbs
Went into the Cheltenham Festival with an excellent Clarence House win (beat future Champion Chaser Energumene), making it a perfect 7 from 7 over fences. Disappointed massively when pulled up as 6/5-on favourite but can bounce back here to affirm his position as the top two-mile chaser.

Tingle Creek Chase tips
Timeform: SHISHKIN can put his Cheltenham Festival blip firmly behind him and affirm his position at the top of the two-mile chasing division. He won’t have it easy though, with both last year’s winner Greaneteen and Sporting Life Arkle hero Edwardstone having proven course form in what should be a race to savour.
