12:25 – Hiway One O Three

If avoiding the dreaded “bounce” factor, recent Southwell winner Dash Of Blue (second choice) should feature prominently. At the other end of the weights, Joey Steel and Eurkash boast form which gives them decent prospects but the vote goes to HIWAY ONE O THREE, who was progressive over hurdles last season and can step up on his fair fourth on his chasing debut.

12:55 – Lime Avenue

One of the most impressive bumper winners of the season, LIME AVENUE is taken to make a successful transition to hurdling, with today’s longer trip expected to suit. Exeter scorer Micronormous, another daughter of Walk In The Park, is also respected on her hurdling debut, although Annie Magic makes slightly more appeal for the forecast.

13:25 – Certainly Red

Although raised 8lb for his recent Exeter success, Midnight Glance is sure to prove popular. He is much respected but topweight CERTAINLY RED, who is also unexposed over fences, may represent better value and is narrowly preferred. Putdecashonthedash is not easy to predict but is capable of going close.

13:55 – Shutupshirley

Robert Walford’s 5yo SHUTUPSHIRLEY (nap) opened his account with a very comfortable win at Exeter 11 days ago and will be very difficult to beat under his 7lb penalty if in similar form here. Harry’s Hottie, The Wise Traveller and What’s My Line were all last-time-out winners too but Farceur De Maulne comes here after a good third at Ffos Las in October and may provide the main threat to the selection.

14:25 – Born At Midnight

Most of these have something to prove and the one that appeals most is the in-form 7yo BORN AT MIDNIGHT, who stayed on strongly for a clearcut win at Taunton on his return last month and was a respectable second behind a well-handicapped favourite at Ludlow last time. Joe Tizzard’s unexposed chaser No Hubs No Hoobs is feared most, ahead of Boagrius, who ran well to finish runner-up behind the selection three weeks ago.

14:55 – Filey Bay

A really interesting contest. Shallow River could prove to be well treated and he may provide the main threat to FILEY BAY, who bolted up on his handicap debut at Doncaster on Saturday and looks capable of defying his penalty. Others worthy of consideration include On To Victory and Trolley Boy.

15:25 – Meatloaf

Exeter winner Twentyfirst Lancer is the starting point but he’s penalised and this could be a much deeper race. With the Twiston-Davies bumper horses going well, Josh The Boss and Mr Mackay need considering, while Harry Fry’s Armathia is another interesting newcomer, but the most attractive profiles belong to Juggernaut and MEATLOAF. The former, with a pedigree full of French bumper winners, makes plenty of appeal but the locally trained Meatloaf gets the verdict.
