16:15 -Ward Castle

Off a workable mark on his first handicap start on AW, WARD CASTLE is taken to open his account. He ran well in a couple of novice events here last autumn and looks favourably handicapped on that form. Second choice is class-dropper Spring Glow, ahead of closely matched rivals Franco Grasso and Largo Bay in that order.

16:45 – Corinthian Kid

On the back of a solid novice effort, CORINTHIAN KID could well defy top weight back at handicap level. Second choice is the consistent Tephi, ahead of Cheeky Maxi who may progress on AW for his new stable. Most of the handicap newcomers are open to improvement.

17:15 – Haseef

An open race in which the vote goes to HASEEF, who made some striking late headway out wide in a C&D handicap last month and is a big player if he can build on that eyecatching effort. Second choice is Inclement Weather, who is unexposed at 1m and was a close third in a similar race here last time. Dual 1m Polytrack winner Sweet Bertie has claims if he can bounce back on his step back up in trip, while others to consider are the lightly raced pair Free Step and Flagman.

17:50 – Eagle Eyed Freddie

Preference is for EAGLE EYED FREDDIE, who has recorded both his wins over 1m on AW and made a bold bid when runner-up behind a course specialist at Wolverhampton last time. The in-form 6yo Recuerdame could pose a big threat if he gets the breaks and he’s feared most, ahead of William Knight’s interesting handicap newcomer Lordsbridge Girl. Adace was an eyecatcher over 7f here last time and is respected on her step back up in trip, while another who could be dangerous is Ladypacksapunch.

18:20 – Yasima

As regards the runners with experience, YASMINA and Adwan totally stand out. It could go either way and preference for Yasmina is only marginal. As for the newcomers, Slipofthepen and Star Ahoy are particularly interesting (monitor the market signals accordingly).

18:50 – Prince of Zenda

Hugo Palmer’s PRINCE OF ZENDA stuck very well to his task when third over 7f at Chelmsford last month and today’s step up in trip may unlock further improvement here. He gets the vote ahead of Daysofourlives, who has some quirks but posted a good effort at Nottingham five weeks ago. Newcomers Postman’s Park, Fly Zone, Land Legend and Strandonthegreen all have good credentials on paper, and the market may help to sort them into a pecking order.

19:20 – Aussie Banker

Aguaplano ought to be able to cope with a 2lb rise for last month’s C&D win and is respected but there should still be more to come from AUSSIE BANKER, who didn’t enjoy the run of the race when fourth here three weeks ago and has the assistance of William Buick this time. Dashing Dick and La Maquina can also feature.

Kempton Racing under lights

19:50 – Belloccio (NAP)

Having bagged notable handicaps in his only two starts at Kempton, BELLOCCIO (NAP) could well prove capable of landing this Listed prize. He put up a smart weight-carrying performance last time and looks open to further improvement on Polytrack. Wild Crusade, who hold solid claims, is feared most ahead of Jack Darcy who is still unexposed at 1m4f. It’s also impossible to rule out last year’s one-two, Garden Paradise and Siskany.

20:20 – Duty of Care

This step up in distance may enable DUTY OF CARE to take advantage of a handy mark. Humanitarian, another well-treated contender who tries 2m for the first time, is second choice ahead of interesting handicap debutant Shadowfax. Consistent performers Pons Aelius and Arabescato are also in the mix.
